I've studied so many concentration camps through history that held vulnerable people in just this kind of crowded squalor. You demonize people, you demand more arrests, this is what you get. It already has its own budget and its own momentum, and is on track to go much further, unless we stop it.

It's not just Iran whose surrender is being demanded. It's yours. Your hope. Your belief in yourself and our collective potential. Your empathy. They want to crush those things. They want you to believe their will is inevitable.
They want you to surrender.
Congratulations! I'm looking forward to reading it!
Everybody has a bad take sometimes. People you respect can be wrong in their framing or just plain wrong about a thing. People would lose their minds about this less if we viewed each other as whole, flawed human beings.
i don’t know exactly how to articulate it but like, we’re absolutely at war yet it doesn’t feel like it because the people leading it are so fucking stupid so the typical climate of seriousness is missing? if that makes sense?
Life is short, friends. Spend as much of it as you can loving people.
I love this response! Also, given your way with words, I'm not surprised. You seem to always deliver well-timed speeches.
I love how Romeo & Juliet spirals out of control without any clear villain. Everyone thinks they're doing right by what they can see and what they value.
Romeo & Juliet has a special place in my heart. It's so funny right up until it isn't. Everyone is trying to do what they think is right, but no one sees the whole picture, and they can't accept what others tell them. Friar Laurence might be my favorite character in all of Shakespeare.
Too often, activists are more focused on sorting people into categories of good and bad than on how people actually change their minds, beliefs, politics, and actions. Personally, I think this comes from a defeatist mindset. But people can and do change. So, how does that happen? Audio + transcript:
Essential reading. "We in the U.S. need to reckon with the fact that so much of our state wealth, capacity, and technology goes toward burying children in rubble."
You, an individual, cannot "fix" the whole world. You can act at the scale of your life. You should act at the scale of your life.
I’m done hearing about the Epstein files, I want to hear about the Epstein trials.

Reading American history will break your heart a thousand times but it will also fill you with such admiration and awe for all the people who were excluded from the protection of America’s founding principles and fought to promote, protect and expand them anyways
(around an image of a masked ICE agent holding a gun) Republicans "One Big Beautiful Bill' nearly tripled funding for ICE. That money came from your benefits: paid for by cuts to reproductive health care paid for by cuts to Medicare & Medicaid paid for by cuts to SNAP paid for by cuts to clean energy projects paid for by cuts to obesity prevention paid for by cuts to disaster response paid for by cuts to energy tax credits
I'll believe it when Minnesota folks confirm it. Otherwise I'll assume it's just an Israeli-style ceasefire
Macbeth: SHIT
Watch this, it's astonishing.
Apparently there was a city meeting in Hutchins, Texas, tonight. Hutchins is the location of DHS's newly announced 10,000-person concentration camp. What I've been told is that city officials were unanimously and adamantly opposed to it.
Unfortunately, I'm seeing this nowhere online.
It’s important to realize that the subtext of Trump freaking out at Kaitlan Collins when she asks him what he’d say to the Epstein survivors is that she may in practice be asking what he’d say to the *Trump* survivors, and they both know that. A well worded question

CHARLES RAFFERTY The Problem with Early Warnings People don't like to leave a party unless the house is actually on fire. Even then, if the flames are far enough away to be pretty, they'll finish their drink, take one more pass at the hors d'oeuvres. How things happen has always been unclear. Hurricanes begin in a place where no one lives. Agents of the government start to wear masks. Fascism is a word my neighbors won't use yet. They are following the law, they say, and the sirens are coming for someone else.
This hit so fucking hard today.
A message to the media: stop calling it a "healthcare crisis." Call it the "Republican healthcare crisis." Stop calling it an "immigration debate." Call it "Republican terror and violence." Be accurate. #FundHealthcareStopICE
The current position of the Republicans in Congress: They would change nothing that ICE and CBP are doing, and they'd allow massive increases in funding for what they're now doing to go ahead. They're just fine with the current policies, practices, and governance of ICE and CBP.
I want for you whatever you want for immigrants
A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.
I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
The US needs a regime change and it’s called the 2026 midterms.
Hannah Lichtsinn, MD @DoctorLix You know what would be "tough on crime"? • fully funded schools • guaranteed access to healthy food • high-quality affordable housing • universal health and child care • care instead of incarceration for people with substance use disorder and severe mental illness
