Frontline professionals want to do this work well but systems must be designed to support listening, flexibility and shared responsibility, not constrain them.
3/
This means investing in systems that prioritise relationship-based, continuity-focused care, support professionals to work in humane, person-centred, relational ways, enable trust, collaboration and compromise across disciplines, and remain open to change when current approaches are not working 2/
The Maud Coffey tragedy must be a turning point for mental health policy in Ireland. When warnings are raised, when distress is visible, and when loved ones ask for help, our systems must be capable of listening, responding and adapting.
