The break with reality started with a big push with Regan and then right just got crazier and crazier -- tea party, etc .
Trump is just the mascot for the full right-wing powerbro's and christo-fascists.

Actually, it's at stage 2 in Alberta.

If he never sat with snide Rosie it'd be fine with me, most other CBC types are ok. But are you expecting "nope, never doing interviews, never answering questions" ... really?

I never understood how people thought he'd left. Sure, anyone can contain themselves and act half-decently for a special dinner or two but we don't change a strongly entrenched 20-yr personality.

I hope he keeps these up. When we're attempting to understand another person perspective and plans in any useful depth it's important to let them lay it out.

Question Period, interviews, and press conferences serve an entirely different role but aren't relevant if not based in reality.

But 'Trump' and 'ruminating' can't be in the same sentence unless it's referencing his preferred method of chowin'down Big Mac's.

He had to lead with references to our distant past because we've spent a couple generations slipping into international doziness and economic lethargy.

I stopped at "he's been ruminating .." because that can only apply to how Trump eats burgers and I lost interest.

The US media brought us Trump this same way.

Stupidity is a universal constant. Canadian in general are more informed then americans but even that varies with the area.

Trapper was the first MAGA convert of CNN's main faces and the reason I quit CNN after being a regular for years.

Suspicion ??!! Danielle and the UCP have already have corrupted the process by putting it in pure political hands when it established at a proper distance from them.

Much better if it were more common. It's one of the few real checks on power freak leaders & inner circle. Adding party to the ballot in 1970 was an error. "I'll work hard to represent (all people) in this RIDING." is the candidates pitch, not just 'my party'. Should be easy to do.

In general, the american approach, business and political, is not a 'good for both of us' one. Heck, the cartels are better at that then the USA.

you gave me an idea. I'm looking on polymarkets to see if there is an enticing wager to be had on that or similar outcomes.
thanks.

Avi Lewis on the Libs "Their ideological span is from Gladu to ...., I don't know what it means to be a Liberal anymore."
Take it up with Avi and explain to him.

Do not, I repeat, do not use analogies or metaphors or any symbolism when dealing with the far right. Their language model works differently. Hard lesson learned.

'my vote' = swing voter ( like me).
You're right, as I've been stressing, Lib voters are about as far from a monolith as you can get. More like friday soup, scraps from all over. Layton attracted a similar type of voter just a bit more left.

You're right. I had no idea the common criticism of Liberals was not commonly known :--))
Party members, any party, tend to forget the vote they receive from non-party members is how they get elected.
Avi doesn't need the base-vote, he needs my vote. PP has the same problem on the other side

I vote via 'what can I do to help us get the government we need?" which seems the best a citizen can do with their vote.
It leads me to vote for various parties, based on current circumstances.
I'm not a one-size-fits-all about most things, political or otherwise.

Libs not a secret. e.g. floor crossing: articles, talking heads reciting versions of what I said ad naseum.
Ideology is having 'set beliefs'. The heat over Gladu with "there's the Libs again, is there nothing they believe in." comments. Middle has fuzzier concepts, rather like a constitution.

No, Fed Libs are historically and famously non-ideological. A shifting orb of pragmatism, weighing of general perspectives.

The farther from the center the party ( or person) sit the more ideological ( or they'd be the center :--)

Prov BC NDP are roughly Trudeau Libs. No chance in BC.

Yes. Try and imagine which provincial NDP he could lead to a win. Federally, an ideological NDP party can be supported at times with 'pull the Libs left' reasoning. That fails in a crisis.

It would have to be between variations of "they're eating the cats".
It's so unwatchable but so are car wrecks.

I don't vote on 'like', but 'will they help give me best gov.
A politician needs to pull in large groups of people, so 'what type of thinking' can be swayed. - 'always NDP', 'NDP provincially', 'NDP as fed Lib limiter', etc.

I'm reading/hearing Avi attracting lifers and some newbies.

When would you say was the last one of "times like these" ?

Do you think we're in "typical pattern" times?

Election most likely called in the USA pres election year. If the world looks anywhere near as crazy as last year, or now, hard to move away from the security-blanket vote.
At even money, I'd bet non-12 seats 2028. (bias -a swing NDP voter who finds Avi very unappealing).

I suppose we need to see "do tigers want to eat your face?" and "Is the sky blue?" questions as some hope that the obvious is not being ignored by the majority.

That doesn't explain how the Lib support and Carney support is UP a year after the last election. Support should be drifting away if it were just a panic vote and now reality is setting in.

'new voters'? Ones that won't see the right-wing threat most are seeing? Sure, but it costs the other edge.
