My friends and I have our first D&D session in ages tomorrow and I'm so stoked (even though I haven't had the time/headspace to write new songs for my bard).

b) I love that, unlike CRAZY RICH ASIANS, it acknowledged other races beyond Chinese in a way that didn't make those other races a punchline to a shitty racist gag.
The last half of the episode in Singapore clearly has our tourism board's talking points aaaaaaall over it, but:
a) I find it hilariously apt that Singapore was where Deborah grew complacent and started to spiral, and...
That logo was a mark of cinematic quality for my kid brain! (Heck, I still get the warm and fuzzies every time I see it at the start of a movie.)
TMNT 1990 and Mortal Kombat 1995 in equal measure 🔥
Nadia and I started watching HACKS earlier this week, and we're already up to season five. This show is so fucking great.
I'm sure Alan Moore would agree: Brian Bolland is the main draw (hah) for THE KILLING JOKE.
I remember an older kid asking me why I played arcade games in the local club, rather than the gambling machines. “Nothing comes out!” he didn’t get it - *pleasure comes out*.
🧵, and a very important one too.
My problems, in perspective.
This really puts my problems into perspective.
I hate this with every fibre of my being...
My newsletter has around forty subscribers. If I can get maybe a hundred, I'd feel better about using Instagram even less. So, if you're so inclined, please sign up. It's a lot like what I'm like here, only more organised and with a photo of my cat in ever edition.
Yeah, I'm not relocating again. If this place goes belly up, I'm gone.
... or ask your local bookstore or comic shop to order it through their Ingram or Consortium sales reps. If it helps, point them to the book's Edelweiss listing. [2/2]

Since then, I've heard whispers that people want to see him come back, that the work he did was too important for Singaporean literature for him to face such severe repercussions. I hope to god that that day never comes, but every time I hear his name, I brace myself for the possibility.
Kenny Leck was a very influential Singaporean publisher and bookstore owner who made a lot of people's careers—including mine, when he published my first short story collection. In 2021, Kenny's former staff and ex-wife came forward with abuse allegations.
This was the exact moment when I stopped believing that men like Louis CK were interested in paths of redemption.
What is needed is self examination.
The very thing narcissists have erected all their toxic defensive barriers to avoid. So it won’t happen. Don’t wait.
Sorry. We have to put them in trebuchets and fire them into the sky. The old fashioned way. I don’t make the rules.
TVotR always makes days better!
I hear you, loud and clear. Boy oh boy, do I hear you. It's a constant battle to not listen to the voices, which way too often come from inside my own head too, but I feel like every personal success (a chapter done, an idea percolating) helps quiet them, at least a little.
I'm watching Massive Attack and My Chemical Romance in concert later this year. If I ever get to catch Pixies, Janelle Monáe, and TV on the Radio live, I'll happily never need to go for another gig ever again.
It's why I try my best to stop looking at press about the scene (and it is more a scene than a community) and stay off Instagram where it's more prevalent. At least here, I get support from others—and because they're people outside of the ones we know, it feels refreshing.
(Thank you, all of you, for understanding that it comes from a place of love.)
Every time I read about STAR WARS continuity outside of the movies, I feel the need to apologise to everyone I've assaulted with Ben Reilly's continuity.
The rom-com's on Audible. It was a work-for-hire gig and never made it past the pilot. It's called VIRTUAL REALITY. I did not come up with the concept (or the title, which still makes me cringe), but I did do a bit of uncredited directing, which was fun.
Fun one: a pilot for an audio rom-com.
Not fun one: copywriter for whitening cream.
Me trying to get my head around Darth Maul continuity.
