Magical
I would agree that in a normal job role asking if there are any vacancies someone you know might apply for is fine, but does anybody really think that's all that was going on here?
Robbins for one doesn't appear to have thought as much.
100% - mere transcription isn't journalism (not that we even have transcription as most of his utterances are too lunatic to print, so we get heavily sane-washed versions instead).
Would it kill them if media types ever evaluated whether his pronouncements and reality bore any resemblance?
Hard agree π
Obligatory Michael Caine quote:
"I've never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific"
Asks questions about sanctions against Russia. Gets answers about sanctions against Iran.
Also, 'Operation Economic Fury'?
Jesus wept...
One of the frequent arguments people used against doing anything about our own emissions was that, 'China is pumping out more coal-based pollution than everyone else so unless they change (and they won't) it doesn't matter what we do here'
Well China's changing now, and the ball's in our court.
I cut it fine, but I'm there...
I'm UK-based so a lot of this passed me by. If he's still got them anywhere though, he should absolutely bust those suits out again
I have good friends who have different politics to my own, and that's fine, but Trump is a special case.
If someone is pro-Trump I think that speaks a lot to their moral view (or lack thereof) and that transcends politics.
I'll have to check it out - thanks for the recommendation π

Must confess that I hadn't picked up either of these yet, but ordered both just now π
Huh - so this is how I find out that his mother directed Monsoon Wedding. Top film π
We got some BMW i3's at work a few years ago and I avoided them at first as I was unfamiliar - I stuck to the diesels.
One day an i3 was the only car left in the pool so I had to take one out and sweet Jesus, the acceleration!
From that day on, I'd *always* take the keys to an electric first.
It's a power play.
He knows that the reporter isn't going to call him out and say, "Excuse me, but that's bullshit".
He knows that Republican officials will parrot the line, "Well, the President said..." even though they know it's bullshit.
He knows we know, but who's going to stop him?
Hot on the heels of learning that they cut any hint of LGBTQ+ plot from Elio and had their chief creative officer Pete Docter announce that Pixar is βnot [making] therapyβ just whose stories *does* Pixar believe are acceptable to tell now?
An embroidery hoop containing a sewn aerial view landscape. It depicts an apple orchard in bloom in the centre, allotments to the left and sheep in their field at the bottom. Train tracks go past the top of the orchard and allotment.
Sewn train tracks past an apple orchard (to the left).
An angled view of a sewn vegetable allotment surrounded by rough land, trees and with train tracks to the left.
An angled view of embroidered bushes and paths going through them leading to an orchard, allotment and fields.
'A simple (perfect) life' - my spring landscape is finally finished! An apple orchard in bloom, old railway, sheep with their lambs and an allotment being prepared for growing :) Zoom in to see all the other tiny details too... I think this might be my favourite aerial embroidery I've ever done!
I was just talking to a friend today about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - new books every month, totally for free, for kids ages 1-5.
My son was part of the program - this is a copy of the letter that came with his last book, right after his 5th birthday.
My point was not blaming religion but an acknowledgement that even though I'm not personally religious, the verses in question are sound advice.
Awful people may present themselves differently, so judge them by their actions and what they put out into the world rather than their words.
I'm reminded of Terry Pratchett's view that the number of exclamation marks a person uses is inversely proportional to their sanity - "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a diseased mind" - though diseased is possibly underselling it somewhat in this instance.
This clip is nearly 3 minutes long. The amount of time he allows him to waffle without really saying anything is insane.
"Ye shall know them by their fruits. Every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
By their fruits ye shall know them"
Nothing but bad fruit here
My days of religion are long behind me, but when it comes to the current Trump administration and those 'Christian' pastors who pray for him and compare him to Jesus I'm reminded of:
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves"
Seriously, you *don't* need to platform this guy.
You're not going to believe this but it's a man wearing Roman armour, walking a black lamb on a lead. You don't need to know this but the lamb is called Emily.
Sometimes your working day gives you more joy than you could ever have hoped for.
Matt Goodwin is now being slated for making things up because he previously presented himself as an academic. If he'd just presented himself as a politician from day one, I doubt there would be many in the media calling him out for the same behaviour - instead, you'd bite your tongues for 'balance'
