I have had a truly brutal week at work but, I am on a train rushing through ever deepening fog to meet a good friend to see a concert, I have book to read and more fun plans for the weekend. So, despite everything that conspired to make my week lousy I’m choosing fun and queer joy. 😎✌️

Found out last week that the company I work for was sold. Completely unexpected and gutting.
While the new bosses seem fine, I am pretty sure that my motivation to excel at work is about to flat line.

We stopped at the site of the great electric car charge queue again and today it was wide open, all chargers, no queue!
This time we made to the butter tart café while we charged.
Our son needs a bath when we get home.

and when you aren’t in a rush, stopping to charge can mean visiting cute small town coffee shops. We’re at the FieldHouse in Perth and they have excellent coffee.
We are on our return journey and it is a bright sunny cool day and driving the small country roads and it is perfect.
First stop for a little charge boost and look at this cute “the car is charging” validation icon. Fill the whole car with your electricity!

Shortly after we got it, I saw a friend who said “welcome to horrible gas prices” and when I corrected him that it was fully electric he swore. Loudly.

While in Ottawa our son got to visit with his older cousin.
Aaaaand fin, we have arrived.
Driving a little car with a 200km-ish range almost 500kms straight with intermittent charging stations took a bit of planning and a bit more time but was in the end, totally fine.
The fun connections with strangers along the way really made the trip.
So proud of our son. He made it the longest stretch, 140kms, with no charging stations and then some (170kms) with a bit of juice left to go.
Once last little top up and we’ll be where we need to be.

More cars arrive and everyone gets out to announce there is a queue and shares the wait order.
People groan but laugh and walk around looking at the charge levels of the cars charging and take bets on who will be ready first. We all cheer and wave as cars charge and leave and swap places.
Best is the older couple and chatting with the wife who says her partner gets kilometre anxious and so doesn’t run the heat but sometimes she “goes on strike” and turns it on. lol
Stopped to for a l’il top up charge at the last point before the longest stretch without any chargers and there is a queue.
But, having some nice chats with folks charging and waiting. “What range do you get?” “What a cute car” “How long have you had an EV?” etc
Friendly community.
After a break for lunch, it’s my turn to drive. LFG. 😎
