I've been researching this for about thirty years now and I'm pretty sure we can settle on this as the greatest record ever made

This is exciting. KNIGHTFALL and NO MAN'S LAND to me are the only big crossover events that were wholly successful on a narrative level, and both the Denny O'Neill novelisation and the Dirk Maggs radio drama show how well it slims down in adaptation.

The new David Byrne album is brimming with magic. I can't wait to see these songs live.

This is a real fun time at the movies.
I will go see as many of these movies as Odenkirk feels like making.

It is astonishing how many podcast hosts can’t pronounce important names around the thing they are talking about. I make an effort to get this stuff right but honestly it takes very minimal effort in this day and age.

I love how pre the current film so many people were all “Superman… gee it’s just impossible to make that character interesting or compelling”, as if he hasn’t been in continual publication over multiple titles for almost 90 years. Pretty sure some folks had solved that one.

Why would he want to? It limits the set list to songs he wrote decades ago and the bassist and drummer hate him. He still plays plenty of Talking Heads songs now and his solo career is probably at its peak of relevance and popularity.

I don't get the point of asking people questions you know 1000% what the answer is going to be ahead of time in interviews. Why the hell would David Byrne want to do a Talking Heads reunion tour? Does he have to get it written on a t-shirt and start wearing that to press?

My first time in Alabama! 🤩 Such a fun trip to Muscle Shoals to play a songwriters’ showcase at WC Handy Fest alongside these legends Sinead Burgess, Blake O’Connor, Melanie Dyer and @jeremydylan.bsky.social. Got to town early to see the phenomenal FAME Studios — so much history in those walls. ✨

Seeing this argument a lot less but I like the topic, so I'll mosey on in...

"Superhero movies are today's westerns."

No.

1. Westerns were never tied to a small handful of copyrighted and trademarked properties

2. Westerns are wildly versatile and can be made for a fortune or a shoestring

I would very much like Fantastic Four production designer Kasra Farahani to come redecorate my house.

It’s so funny how much of my life was spent seeing message boards and Wizard Magazine fancasting Fillion as Hal and he ends up playing Guy

Loved Gunn’s approach to the Clark/Superman character. Dialing up the personality instead of equating goodness with blandness was the key.
My only quibble - Clark Kent is absolutely a country music fan not a pop punk dude. His bedroom should’ve been Brooks & Dunn and Chris Stapleton posters.

Randomly flipped through my copy of Kingdom Come and happened to come across this page. Weird how timely a story from 30 years ago is.

Resign and resign being spelled the same but meaning the exact opposite must be a huge asspain for music journalists.

Some great news to wake up to, an album I produced ‘Choking on Fuel’ debuting on the Australian ARIA Country Chart at #20
Thanks to everyone who’s been listening to and buying this record, so proud of Imogen and of this album.

I woke up today to the news that we have debuted in the Top 20 of the Australian ARIA Country Chart! To be honest, as an independent artist, I didn’t even bother checking the chart until somebody sent it to me. :’) I’m so incredibly proud and grateful for how this record has been embraced. 😭🩵🇦🇺

There’s nothing less cinematic than insert shots of iPhone screens. No wonder everyone wants to make period pieces these days.

My annual gatecrashing of the pod is here, joining @chrishewitt.bsky.social @jamescdyer.bsky.social and Sophie Butcher. Talking Brian Eno, James Bond, shark repellent bat spray and more.
Everyone should go to a cinema and see M3GAN 2.0 now!

Last time they had to recast Bond there were so many great candidates that I would’ve been happy with at least five of them (Craig, Owen, Isaacs, Jackman, Elba and I’m probably forgetting people).
This time it’s a struggle to think of people who really fit. Suave is generally in short supply.
