Yup. I miss my old V70 a lot. Wagons are basically dead in Canada, Volvo still makes some but they’re sure not affordable.

It seems like those who pay the lowest provincial taxes are the least satisfied and those who pay the highest are the most satisfied? This weirdly doesn’t jive with the conservative logic of tax cuts and happiness for some reason.

(I didn’t confirm the highest and lowest provincial taxes)

Speeding surges at former camera sites, city data says | CBC News Speeding in school zones that used to host speed cameras has shot up since the cameras were turned off, according to new City of Ottawa data.

www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Billions & billions for cleanup. And the oil companies are going to skip out on all of it while making record profits.

And Alberta is going to let them.

And actually subsidize them to do it.

Pick a path: There is no energy transition without Indigenous nations ⋆ The Breach Indigenous communities are not waiting for permission to start a green transition—they’re forging ahead. Will Canada follow, or stand in their way?

There are now over 2,000 renewable energy projects by Indigenous nations in Canada.

Canada has a choice: to get behind Indigenous energy leadership, or to stand in the way by bankrolling a fossil-fuelled status quo, write Serena Mendizabal and Farron Rickerby-Nishi of @sacredearthorg.bsky.social.

Voters head to polls in 3 federal byelections that could deliver majority Liberal government | CBC News Voters in two Ontario ridings and one in Quebec will head to the polls on Monday for a slate of crucial federal byelections that could deliver the Liberals a majority government — cementing their hold...

In preparation for cries of Eastern Tyranny and Western Alienation following the Liberal majority, I think we need to have frequent reminders that this result was determined by Western Canadian voters in #BC and #Alberta . I never want to hear people say Western votes don’t matter again.

How First Nations’ Treaties can hold back the tide of Alberta separatism ⋆ The Breach Danielle Smith pledged to hold a referendum on separating Alberta from Canada. First Nations in the province are going to court this week to argue that she has no legal right to do that

“The separatist threat “opened our eyes to what’s going on,” Chief Allan Adam of Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in Treaty 8 told The Breach. “It’s a white supremacist movement. I hate to say it that way, but there’s no other way to say it.”

Carney breaks down plans to spend $51B on local infrastructure over a decade | CBC News Prime Minister Mark Carney says the federal government has a plan to address infrastructure gaps across Canada with billions of dollars in funding over the coming decade.

Excellent news, this is nation building, investment in infrastructure. My only concern is Smith and Ford siphoning as much as they can to private hands. Sam Mraiche has enough taxpayer money for a few lifetimes.

First Nations are correct. They proved it in the Court few months ago. The separatist question undermines Treaties and our Charter.

Traffic island with a tree, painted curb, reflectors, warning diamonds, and traffic cones.

My curb wasn't enough to keep the cars away, so we planted a tree;
that wasn't enough, so we painted it yellow;
that wasn't enough, so we added reflectors;
that wasn't enough, so we added warning diamonds;
that wasn't enough, so we added traffic cones;
that wasn't enough, so the cars still hit me.

I think not enough people understand that the pushback against renewables and EV's is money.

Without getting too in the weeds: renewables cannot ever be as profitable as oil and gas.

EV's don't make as much money as gas guzzlers.

That's it. That's all you really need to know.
