I don't know if Anthropic's concern about Mythos, their new LLM, is finding novel security exploits is warranted. But it does seem to have generated a lot more interest in the new LLM than if it was just released.

I recently heard about a tech company setting KPI targets for employees using LLM tokens. Not maximums, minimums to show the employees are using AI.
That's both absurd on its face and good evidence that whoever set that goal is pretty gullible.
We have spectacular new high-resolution images of our home planet, all of us looking back through the Orion capsule window at our Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon.

Pfizer has ended its large Phase III Trial of an updated COVID19 vaccine.
They were not able to enroll enough people to meet their goal.
A major problem is the FDA’s wholly unreasonable demand that people with chronic conditions, who benefit most from the vaccine, not be allowed to participate.
This has mirrored my own experience:

"Unfortunately, Claude was basically faking the whole plot. ...it adjusted it to make it look nice!"
Aces to Anthropic for publishing this. Trust is an important part doing science on a team, and it still has a ways to go.
So exciting to watch humanity take one step closer to our goal of stranding Matt Damon on Mars (and then retrieving him).
MS Word: we're now fully integrated with an LLM and can summarize word documents and suggest changes.
Also MS Word: the only way to fix table caption enumeration problems is to start a new document and paste everything in.
Of the posts I see in my feed about the Project Hail Mary movie, about 75% are about the unbalanced centrifuge. I love it.
Happy pi day to all who celebrate.
A digital CAPTCHA verification window titled "Select all squares with PIPES" against a plain white background. The window contains a 3×3 grid of numbered squares, mixing literal hardware, smoking pipes, and programming syntax.
These captchas just keep getting harder #rstats
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
This is going to be a slide in every primatology and comparative mammalian osteology class for the foreseeable future.

You can't... repeal... a scientific finding. At that point it's just called lying about it.

ICE claim that a man shattered his skull running into wall triggers tension at a Minnesota hospital
Alex Pretti, wearing a green sweater with his VA badge on.
This is Alex Pretti.
This morning he was murdered by ICE. Six ICE agents held him down and shot him at point blank range. Alex was a nurse and researcher at the VA.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones and we stand united in action calling for the abolishment of ICE.

Be Careful When Using Ai
I suppose the upside to OpenAI introducing in-response ads to ChatGPT is kids using it for homework is going to be way easier to spot.
Ensures that all the diseases covered by the previous immunization schedule will still be available to anyone who wants them through Affordable Care Act insurance plans and federal insurance programs, including Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the Vaccines for Children program. Families will not have to purchase them out of pocket. Among peer nations, the U.S. will continue to offer the most childhood vaccines for free to those who want them.

Bear and rabbit are making a popcorn garland. Top: bear says “you know, I don’t even think the garland needs popcorn. I think it looks nice like this.” Bottom: rabbit says “Do you want me to make you some extra popcorn you can eat?” Bear replies “Yes please.”
I'm not sure at what age the holidays changed from playing board games with cousins to eating charcuterie boards with cousins. But I am definitely now in that second group.

Forget Spotify or YouTube, I want to see my medRxiv/bioRxiv "year wrapped."
(So long as it doesn't look at all the pdfs I have downloaded and "will totally get to when I get a chance.")
Great breakdown of the situation at UNL (which is a breakdown of a different sort). They are eliminating multiple programs, including statistics. Absurd
i know i know christmas is over but the last video i posted was really good and not enough people saw it. i'll put the link below
