Baking set to opera. Found this weirdly satisfying.

I do not want to create an account or open a subscription I just want to buy a thing and never hear from you again why is this so hard.
Starting today on a positive note. Spotify teed up two new-to-me artists that I’m enjoying.
Michigan Rattlers and Andrew Duhon
“Evergreen” and “Comin’ Around”
Check ‘em out.
Add in the comments what music you are enjoying lately.
Randy Barnett, quote-posting Jeff Clark: This is a travesty. If making allegedly questionable constitutional arguments is a disbarrable offense, bar disciplinary tribunals would be in permanent session.
John Eastman was not disbarred for making "allegedly questionable constitutional arguments," and characterizing the decision that way is risible.
When you're 6'3", you and short ladies at the grocery store have an unspoken understanding. It's the social contract.
If you found Artemis II as inspiring as I did last week, I commend this short novel from 2024 that I absolutely loved.
Set aside a few hours and read it in one go.
I can't find Dr. Hegedus' age, but this feels very Gen X.
Gilmore Girls references regularly pop into my life in unexpected places. Intentional or not.
Yes, also he’s so incredibly good at the politics part of his job.
That is a beautiful remembrance. We lost classmate in a similar, but non-combat flight over the Bay of Bengal. Flying in an F-14 off the Constellation in the summer of 2001 and the ship lost radar and radio contact. A search was conducted but nothing was found, and the 2-man crew was declared dead.
Cover of Michael Shermer’s book CONSPIRACY, in which the word is spelled out as jumbled letters connected by thin red lines against a white background, evoking notes and clippings strung together on a board
i always take a moment to appreciate good book cover design
The Delphic Oracle told King Croesus of Lydia that if he attacked Persia "a great empire will fall."
He saw this as a prediction of victory and attacked.
It was his own great empire that fell.
Oooh, will try that!
I’ve had a SunnyD and a Hawaiian punch in the last week, and have Ovaltine or the cartoon rabbit version on my grocery list for this week. The nostalgia is sometimes delicious.
This is amazing. I recently finished reading a novel that took place in a massive Polish salt mine and it was a bit hard to imagine the enormous scale.
Book cover for Rachel A. Shelden, The Political Supreme Court: A Forgotten History
Not sure whether this is apt or terrible timing but here’s the official cover of my book due out with @uncpress.bsky.social W. Hodding Carter III imprint this fall. 🎉
This is Pulitzer shit right here.
*-ing. My kingdom for an edit button.
Well, that was not what I was expected, but 🫡 for a quiet mower.

None of those are “final blows.”They are just escalations, potentially very costly ones unlikely to fundamentally change anything. And with the president making these decisions all by himself with no Congressional authorization or public buy-in, those costs are all on him, nobody else.
Oh, I’ve been looking for something new to rewatch as my falling asleep show now that the murder-y shows I love are starting to creep into my dreams (which I don’t love). Eureka would be perfect for that. Thanks!
The author of these two dynamite books, Tracy Kidder, died today. Can’t recommend his work enough.
It’s definitely a good read.
#askwxm Is Mark dying? Hope you can rest your voice and the rest of yourself during the break, @finalwhistle.bsky.social.
In 2021, researchers from Boston University & Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute aboard the Schmidt Ocean research vessel Falkor had a rare encounter with Vitreledonella richardi, the GLASS OCTOPUS.
This mesmerizing creature, rarely seen, has a nearly transparent body with visible eyes & gut.
Hope it gives some relief.
“The Paper” premieres 32 years ago today.
Not just a stellar cast (including Duvall, #RIP 🙏🏼 ) ..
.. but David Koepp’s script beautifully captures the sarcastic, weary and competitive nature of a local news editorial meeting.
