Listened to Mary Beard on interpretations of the past (R4) about half an hour ago. It's a shame that there's no standardised method to evaluate relative likelihood for any given structure, but I'm not sure how much difference it would make.
Part of the town farm
A local community space
A local community space
Road and cafe near to base
Surprising what's on the way and how good the community spaces are
Pub at end of Lambeth Walk
Part of Lambeth Walk: row of shops
Part of Lambeth Walk: view in to a park
Side of building "This is not the end"
Decided to do the Lambeth Walk and then on back to Vauxhall
Vauxhall Bridge
View of Thames
Bessborough Gardens
North of the river. Every direction leads to somewhere I know; so heading South!
Bridge under Vauxhall
In Vauxhall and just been asked if I'd like to join a hen party. Took the coward's way out and going for a meander instead: an area of London I don't know all that well.
A steel framed attic space
The darkness of a large attic. Were you to walk forwards, almost certain death would follow on this one.
Odd given what it is. Mystery generates importance?
Entry door
Lock mechanism
Who knew that the Olympic Committee changed all the doors of their torch bearers so that it would be less likely to be stolen?(Not my house obvs: in London with nothing much to do this weekend)
If it were Boris, it would be expected (that he wouldn't know).
There's a few ways to protect yourself (email or DM me if you don't already know), but it's hard to protect against because others becoming affected might make communications difficult. Was thinking of doing a thread about this but there's way less interest than I thought there might be.
More a case of when rather than if? (but not sure what form it'll take). Looks like the guardrails are too easy to over-ride. If it were done by a state actor, consequences could be extreme.

Trump’s blockade is getting an immediate test. A Chinese tanker has cleared the Strait of Hormuz. Will the US seize it? If the US does, is that an act of war? If it doesn’t, does the blockade collapse? This is a scary moment.

Shorting it big time.

90mpg: test 2: behind a caravan
I'm trying an experiment to see if I can make the fuel tank last the whole of the Trump/Iran war. Test 1 was staying behind the lorries for about 50 miles and test 2 was staying behind a caravan for about the same
Caravan wins it by a 10mpg!
But I don't think the tank will last out the war.
Masoud Pezeshkian @drpezeshkian His Holiness Pope Leo XIV (@Pontifex), I condemn the insult to Your Excellency on behalf of the great nation of Iran, and declare that the desecration of Jesus, the prophet of peace and brotherhood, is not acceptable to any free person. I wish you glory by Allah.
I don’t usually share Twitter posts but that would be the president of Iran and yes he’s being completely serious, Islam recognises Jesus as a prophet and the Pope as a successor figure

Anyway, citizens with any money will want to hedge strongly against the economic disaster area of a UK led by Farage.
I am. 😁
I don't use the Mastadon account these days: I should.
It feels to me like the main one too: especially when bad actors eventually get access. It's relatively easy to defend against from a data destruction point of view, but you have to have foreseen that it's possible.
I'm guessing there's little concern or it's seen as too unlikely? Back when I was a lot younger, I had quite an interest in systems (qualified as a full member of one of the computing institutes); so I suspect I might be overly paranoid about protecting our systems.
Would be interesting to see if anyone notices the subtle improvements made to the above (I think it's definitely something that the democrats in Congress would pass)
I don't do much social media, so don't see people do that. Was expecting someone to quote spinal tap given the slight improvements to the drawing, but nobody did.😏
Wondered if you would notice 😂
Trump arch
It's kinda reminiscent of Stonehenge?
This is all getting very serious very quickly.

They also give reasoning earlier in the text: it's quite sensible and pretty much what everybody else must have concluded by now. Donald's killing the goose; so if they've thought about it at all, they must have concluded that they don't need the gold.
PS it's this quote:
"S'agissant de l'évolution du poste de travail, la DINUM annonce sa sortie de Windows au profit de postes sous système d'exploitation Linux."
“The typical SUV exerts around five times more force on the road than the typical passenger car."
It's hard to work out what the context of that quote could have been.
Is anyone else prepared if their main operating system goes down or is it just companies thinking about this?
