This is an insane and unworkable plan, because you are going to have a situation in a couple of decades where a 40-year-old can buy cigs legally and a 39-year-old can't. I suspect this is the point, because many shops will simply stop selling them due to the hassle.

Love this. It’s like if Les McQueen was in one of the biggest bands of all time.

Might do a TOM TOM THE PIPER’S SON kind of thing where I get a close up of each time someone flinches at a mosquito bite.

Obsessed with this accordion scene from Doris Wishman’s BLAZE STARR GOES NUDIST (1962). Everyone is struggling to hold their forced smiles whilst being eaten alive by mosquitos, which they keep batting away whilst looking back at Doris to see if they can stop yet. (cw: nudity obviously)

Bluey is a series about complex family dynamics and the moral and social implications involved in raising children and also it’s for under 5s.

I love them, even though I fully accept all the terrible things about them.

I liked it when Plant was talking about Whole Lotta Love and he says "I just started singing an old Willie Dixon song" like he was channelling some ancient blues tradition from the ether rather than ripping off a song which was only a few years old and which the Small Faces had recently covered.

The CEO of Palantir's UK arm is Oswald Mosley's grandson, incidentally.

This should also be the case for laptops. No doubt phone manufacturers will make a special more expensive non-replaceable version for the UK.

This was acutely evident last year when a major record shop did their top albums of the year at Christmas, normally a tool for selling stuff, and almost everything was out of stock.

So (new as opposed to second-hand) record shops stopped being places of browsing or discovery (in my experience, anyway) and instead become a place to grab the latest thing and then go.

The think with RSD is that pretty much every record is a ‘limited edition’ nowadays because represses don’t happen for years (if at all) so if you don’t get something when it comes out, you probably aren’t getting it anytime soon.

Rewatched HARD BOILED the other day for the first time in decades, and had never noticed that the jazz club where Chow Yun-Fat plays/hangs out with John Woo is called ‘The Jazz Club’.

What I like about Record Store Day is when they interview the people who are camping out all night and you think they must be real hardcore record collectors and they ask the guy at the front what he’s desperate to get hold of and an its like a cassette single of ‘Lady in Red’ in a red shell.

You may address this as I haven’t listened yet, but it was indeed known locally as ‘the duck club’, a name which stuck for a while with its successor club after Harris had left.

I used to work in Poulton-Le-Fylde, and would see Harris around town often. I once saw him supervising a delivery of drinks into the club, and he nodded at me as I walked past, as if to say ‘yes, it is me!’
