That feature was editor Jason Brookes’ idea, god rest his soul. He noticed how these extreme sports games were all starting to arrive around the same time. 1080 has such great control feel. I think the low frame rate actually was sort of part of that, giving it a heavy sense of cutting thru snow.

Ha, well, there might have been a bit of that going on too, as yeah, we were in the heyday of Loaded, FHM, et al.
I worked for Edge when we did that cover. IIRC, the artwork we were sent (by Capcom) was a bit ropey, so we decided to use that close-up of the torso to hide it. I think the faces were quite bad. Worked out okay!

I felt like a dunce when I finally used it for the art in NEURODIVER. Beforehand I was just using Photoshop for my pixel art with the original ROM. Everything was easier. Everything. If you want to get into pixel art, or want an easier time with it, use Aseprite. You'll never regret the purchase.
