If you have a professor/teacher who impacted you in a positive way, send them a short email and let them know and tell them what you’re doing these days.
Teaching can be a thankless and exhausting job but one note can energize an educator for a year.

I once saw a pre-op nurse preparing a patient for surgery with a Doctor named Michael Jordan.
When the nurse was asked if the doctor was good, he replied “oh yeah, he’s like the Patrick Ewing of surgery.”
One of the funniest lines I ever heard.
Hi! I don't use this account much.

Since I've been granted a bunch of followers by the Bluesky gods, hello, I collect the stories for this blog and it's a great resource for anyone advocating for vaccines.
Saddest example of science denialism I have seen this week.
And I see many.
A small beagle mix dog sniffs a large German pointer.
Rudy and Fisher, whom I love.
Sad that meteorologists have entered the "getting death threats because disinformation about your job has been politically weaponized" club.
What followed was disappointing. When I was invited, I asked around and indeed the organizers were talking to some well-known people with quite different views who were likely to speak. However, it was not so straightforward. Some invitees weren’t able to make it, or withdrew, or didn’t want to participate in an event with other speakers whose views and behavior they found attacking or abhorrent.
After "inviting" vaccine scientist Peter Hotez in a tweet, summit organizer Jay Bhattacharya retweeted a bunch of weird conspiracy theories about Hotez + Covid vaccines & targetting him for abuse. From this statement, it appears Stanford's President would blame *Hotez* for refusing to participate.
The new President of Stanford promised to protect academic freedom. I wrote about how he has broken that promise by giving opening remarks at a conference featuring speakers who led attacks on researchers at Stanford, particularly the Stanford Internet Observatory.

For those curious, the President's remarks at the summit have been published here. They address none of my concerns and seem to chastise faculty who refused to engage with people who have relentlessly harassed their colleagues. Shameful.

One Stanford alum has continually stuck out her neck to combat the rise of public health misinfo from our school.
She’s still doing what most of us won’t. Please read and share this article to show support. stanforddaily.com/2024/10/03/f...
my god, they invited alex berenson to speak at my former university. sooo embarrassing.
perks of having a friend who does research on social media
hating myself for not using my invite code sooner to get a cooler number
Ahh, thanks this probably best explains it!
Ahh ok! I guess many must be using it.
I don’t think most of these people are Brazilian though?
I literally never log on here, what just happened??
