Voters are more interesting, cross pressured, and idiosyncratic than simple “your demographic is determinative” narratives would have you believe

Check out this Amazon review of The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York This book is a great blueprint on how to get things done, but it's a hatchet job on Moses regarding the Cross Bronx.

This engineers review of The Power Broker is incredible (and buried in Amazon comments)

The problem with US charity is that it’s not effective enough The New York Times painted a misleading picture. Less than 0.2 percent of US charity is ruthlessly optimized.

🔥🔥🔥 In general, if you hear a group described as believing something obviously ridiculous, you should consider the possibility that you’re being lied to. 🔥🔥🔥

I think it’s good that the dictator lost power.

Neil, I don’t think I agree.

For example, I’m pretty sure “make decarbonization good business” wouldn’t be a popular slogan for Sunrise or XR etc. When I go to e.g. Netroots Nation there’s a lot of talk about environmental justice, not permitting reform.

To me, this piece outlines a clear shift.

I think the meta point is actually important — making it clear that the framing and coalition of IRA was different than a “big new sunrise radical deal”. And that it worked!

There are many people who would love climate politics to just be “(oil) companies bad” and this points out that’s a dead end.

Facebook seems determined that I *must* be into pokemon (and also ... Dragon Ball Z?). It keeps suggesting engagement bait pokemon reels, pages, memes, etc.

Not sure whether to keep ignoring them, or just give in and encourage it because at least the suggested slop won't give me brain worms 🤔

Found this on the streets of Brooklyn today. Made me smile.

Side note — time to build me more biceps! Now that I have a positive cartoon role model.

via @failbettergames.bsky.social I give you --- The Saga of Gedge, a prefect at Eton college circa 1883, who had unrelentingly correct opinions about things according to the archived minutes of the Eton society.

Enacting the Trump Agenda Or at least how to think about which policies might be implemented

This is the best semi-guide I've found for what to expect:

A mentor of mine describing Trots as a virus: “they enter the hit new movement. They infiltrate. They find the best people and recruit them for their group. They shift the movement’s messaging to theirs. Then they get out, after grabbing all they can”

Anyway here’s a story about “environmentalists”
