We collected ~4.7 hours of task data on 3 participants, listening to 10 different categories to create a functional gradient space in which we could situate category structure, and infer acoustic and semantic dimensions.

In our new fMRI study, we show that auditory cortex arranges sounds along continuous functional gradients, where acoustic and semantic structure are integrated into a shared representational space.

I worked with Jonny for 5 years during my formative years as a scientist. He influenced how I see life deeply. Although I won't hear him explain things to me again, his words and kindness will live through those whom he inspired. We were so lucky to have him in our lives. We miss you a lot, Jonny.

I was so lucky to have Jonny as my PhD supervisor. He was a one-of-a-kind scientist and person. He continues to be an inspiration to me and I will always be guided by the way he thought about science and life. He built an amazing network of wonderful people and we all miss you, Jonny.

I'm planning to write an editorial in @brain1878.bsky.social entitled "If patients only knew".
It's about obstacles that slow down or prevent people from participating in clinical studies and the pace of initiating #ClinicalTrials. If you have experience or comments please message me and repost.

Just to be clear this is not something we can tell from this study and any suggestion that it might be seems dangerous to me.

This accumulating process has been obvious since at least 2021. I assumed Labour would reluctantly intervene to help. That they won't almost guarantees that UK academia will become an even more cruel/anti-intellectual place to work, even for those in RG universities. So I'm leaving.
