It's #LongCovidAwarenessDay and I don't really know what to say. We started acknowledging long covid in 2020 and SIX YEARS later:

❌ The NHS still perpetuates the "long covid is complete mystery, we can't help" myth

Saw that the Chinese translation of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ is 雨中曲, which makes it sound like a Tang dynasty poem

I don’t get to make it to Comics N’more often (Boston should have a train directly to eastern mass imo) but it’s always so fun! Very thankful for @xtiancomixmonger.bsky.social creating a covid safer place to get good comics

I have similar, though treating for b12 deficiency, and taking magnesium and iron when tremors are worst, mostly controls autonokic symptoms for me. Might be worth a try? Luck!

This is the largest part, for me. Like fine, if you don't think masks are sensible, that's a you issue, maybe read up. But they're medical devices. There could be any number of issues theyre dealing with, beyond sensible precautions, that make masks v. necessary for them. To lay into them is gross.

Honestly just go for it. Beighton scale is the only thing they'll offer to do, there isnt really a treatment path, but it can clue you into other common issues early. Worth it!

Wes Streeting has appointed Simon Wessley to review why mental health diagnoses are rising - a man who spent half his career insisting ME, a post-viral illness, was in patients' heads and caused by 'unhelpful thoughts and behaviours'

Simon Wessley is now everybody’s problem. He’s certainly an expert in calling things ‘overpathologised’.

I once outlined Wessley’s role in the ME scandal to a theatre friend and they assumed I’d synthesised systemic evils into an individual character for dramatic purposes. But he did that himself.

That they’ve chosen Simon Wessley to do this review is honestly jaw dropping.

What an absolute clownshow. This will be Cass 2.0, I realise this makes me sound conspiratorial, but this is a stitch up, mark my words.

Government-funded ME/CFS trial 'one of greatest medical scandals of 21st century' | 20 February 2018 - The ME Association A controversial medical trial part-funded by the Department of Work of Pensions will emerge as “one of the greatest medical scandals of the 21st century” an MP today claimed.

One of the people leading this likely farce is Simon Wessley whose previous work includes a reasonably well debunked study of ME which was used to make it harder for sufferers to get support or recognition. Streeting knows exactly what outcome he wants from this

Steven and Alice smiling and holding each other’s books

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated
