Translation -

If Starmer resigns or is ousted a new PM will have a reshuffle and I will lose my ministerial job, the extra salary and the rides in the chauffeur driven car.

Absolutely - I'm not holding my breath tho'.

Its a scandal that the sixth largest economy tolerates this. Where's the government's plan to reduce/eliminate poverty?

Spot on. You can’t respond authentically to art with your arms folded and a sneer on your lips. It’s impossible to be a good audience.

That would have required an openess, lightness of touch and acuity that he simply doesn't possess. He's a functionary, at best, who was delegated to protect vested interests. Nothing in his political carrer suggests otherwise.

Yeah - I'll bet he doesn't.

I repectfully suggest that like most practictioners of "what about-ery" they are either A) missing the important point that politics is not primarily an exercise in "taste" or B) haven't really been paying attention. Possibly both.

A detail everyone is ignoring or forgetting.

Peter Mandelson masterminded Keir Starmer's reshuffle days before the scandal broke.

That is, while he was the US Ambassador.

This seems like quite an important detail!

So is it just okay now for the Home Secretary to tell voters who disagree with her hardline immigration policies to ‘fuck right off’? Is that what this Labour government has become? The party is beneath contempt. I hope it’s destroyed at the election

I don't see any political will from the current government.

Remember how long accession took last time? 14 years from the first application to referendum (1961 - 1975).

It's basically a council of vested interests, dedicated to consolodating wealth & power. It was a huge red flag that Starmer joined in 2017 (& why I didn't vote for him in the 2020 leadership election). Also explains a great deal of current gov. policy.

Got our solar panels installed this AM. They came at 8:30am and we're gone by 1:30pm. 13 panels and 10kwh battery.

We can't export to the grid yet (the network operator has been flooded with new requests) but we charged our car with the sun this afternoon. Great feeling, strongly recommend.

The Crisis of Democracy - Wikipedia

As the late George Carlin said, " . . . it's one big club and you ain't in it". Their foundational text are instructive, especially "The Crisis of Democracy" (1975), which argued that democracy, civil & human rights should be restricted. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cri...

Why indeed? This is a confluence of corruption & authoritarianism, aided and abbetted by compliant media. It's all a matter of record if you are curious enough to look. Did you know Starmer was a member of the Trilateral commission (as Epstein was)?

We were taken over by a millionaire wanker who decided to run it like one of his corporate shitshows

The project was begun by Sunak, expedited by Starmer and the contracts have been made under WTO rules. They are covered by state / investor dispute settlement agreements. This effectively means the UK can't rejoin the EU even if there were no other obstacles. "Not in my lifetime"? Better believe it.

Most people are. See also Freeports, SEZs & FEZs and 'development zones'. Labour in opposition were pledged to investigate their establishment then, once elected, committed to investing £64 billion in them.

I would imagine all the beneficiaries of the 2024 UK / US MDA ammendment forbid it.

1 day ago 0 0 1 0

It's because Starmer as PM, signed an ammendment to the US–UK Mutual Defence Agreement in 2024, which made it permanent. Now the UK is shackled to a rogue state.
