I'm not sure my French is good enough to understand the full subtleties of Libé's review of the Michael Jackson biopic

Robin Hood, as played by Jonas Armstrong, looks around in surprise at a Saracen played by Rhino from Gladiators who was about to kill him has just been stabbed in the chest by a sword.
The story of why there are two slightly different versions of some episodes of a Robin Hood TV series from nearly twenty years ago. cwickham.blogspot.com/2026/04/shot...

Extract from Enough Said by Alan Bennett, the 2024 chapter: 12 March. At 2.30 comes Charles Norton, who had written wanting to interview me about my memories of Innes Lloyd. Comes with a big burly cameraman who Rupert says is American but if he is I don't catch it. I don't do it well ... and was meaning to ask to record the last paragraph I wrote about him for Writing Home. (Charles Norton has just rung to say there won't be a problem.) As it is I still feel wanked out, the result of talking as much about myself as about Innes. Maybe that was the point of it, an interview by stealth.
Reading Alan Bennett’s Enough Said.
If you were wondering if he diarised his participation in the Innes Lloyd documentary, here’s his…unique…reaction to Doctor Who VAM.🍆
Ham & High headline, 18 April 2013: Highgate tortoise who defied Hitler comes back from the dead, with picture of tortoise atop a WWII helmet which bears a swastika and the legend ‘Luftschutz’
Without leaving the richly varied world of local newspapers, it’s also the 13th anniversary of this unimprovable headline

Always remember Xander's delivery of "Martin Bain-Jones of the Daily Telegraph... pop section!"
I would think it would be the 16th they skipped, as you suggest there were strikes on Iraq late that night, and I think the story broke about 10pm, I remember several newsflashes on BBC1 and News at Ten being extended on ITV. Seems likely Radio 4 would have rolled with it a bit as well

The Irish singer Imelda May, on a set designed to look like her living room, or quite possibly just is her living room.

According to De Morgen: Péter Magyar op weg naar monsteroverwinning.
I think “monsteroverwinning” is my new favourite Dutch word.
No cuts to either of tonight's new-to-E4 Simpsons, including a marijuana joke left in.
(Also a moment that looks bizarrely *exactly* like C4 trying to hide a cut, but it turns out the original episode is like that...)
EARLY EVENING REPOST
Sometimes I think some of the things I write about gamebooks are purely for me, so I find comments like the one left on this piece quite gratifying.

The words 'DEEP IN THE HEART OF ENGLAND / LIVES A LEGEND' appear over forest scenery.
Here is an absolutely ridiculous piece of writing about the title sequence to the BBC's 2006-09 Robin Hood series. cwickham.blogspot.com/2026/04/in-h...

We wondered why the first Live & Kicking's credits had no Editor/Copyright end board - this short video shows that it did, but just wasn't broadcast!
And, did you ever spot that John Barrowman changed his clothes during the programme?

In a hugely exciting development, I now have at least one Owen Goal strip I can compare to its original Cannonball Kid version, so that'll appear in a few weeks hopefully.
here's how the "earth" article looked in 2001 when wikipedia was 3 weeks old, long before anyone realized that astronauts would someday edit the site from space :')

"Pissed", in fact
In fact, four cuts to the same scene, all to remove the same word, and also remove the same word when it appears onscreen
Tonight's E4 Simpsons:
"Boyz N the Highlands": No cuts noticed
"You Won't Believe What This Episode Is About - Act Three Will Shock You!": ACTUAL CUT SPOTTED
A Doctor Who easter egg, from Suchard. A police box with a Dalek standing in front of it, who is firing his weapon. Inside, Peter Davison stands. Unfortunately, the Dalek ray flashing across now looks like Doctor Who has a gun attached to his space knackers.
Back in the day you could wake up on Easter Sunday, open your egg and get zapped by Doctor Who's colossal space baws. How times change.
