A major shift among Jewish Americans has occurred against AIPAC. Now, 66% of Jewish Americans oppose AIPAC’s spending in Democratic primaries. Only 13% say an AIPAC endorsement makes them more likely to support a candidate, while 40% say it would make them less likely to do so.

I write when the newest mad actions have been taken by Trump with his ignorant, narcistic, and cruel leadership and followers. I think the tide against Trump's authoritarian moves was beginning to grow. He was concerned. Waging a war seems to be his response. We need to ensure this backfires.

Trump's abduction of Maduro is outrageous, with likely grave international and domestic consequences. It should be resisted. The Congress should insist upon engagement. People ought oppose further threats elsewhere and should urge seeking UN engagement to oversee a free election in Venezuela.

I just watched a hopeful webinar from the New Israel Fund. NIF has long supported democratic and progressive programs in Israel. Recently, that wok has expanded to efforts with Palestinians, in Gaza, the occupied territories, and Israel. For example see:

Sadly, US President Trump's international interventions are outlandish, but have profound impacts. He attends to personalities and he offers resources as well as well imposes coercion. This bizarre conduct requires attention by constructive conflict researchers.

Trump may be angry about the great wave against him and behave wildly. Yet, it should prompt more efforts to advance democracy, diversity, and equity. Actions at the local level to advance those goals are good. Also, actions in support of existing organizations defending democracy are needed.
Dangerous Time?
The great wave of Democratic votes in the last election will naturally embolden many people who have been resisting the many autocratic, cruel, and ignorant actions taken by Trump. But it may also prompt Trump to be even more revengeful. See next post about advancing democracy now.
