Excellent episode. Gallows humor!
the man has *some* sense, as it turns out
"So D.C. United's GM blocked me on LinkedIn" is where we're at in 2026 lol
Hmm. Maybe those are the stars he is referencing.
The Doctor thinks #DCU has won three MLS Cups. @gregoryroche.bsky.social
Re: Louis Munteanu, Weiler said he had planned on start him tonight, but he "felt some pain" & DCU's medical team said he'll be out 1-2 weeks.
Asked René Weiler about Gabriel Pirani's absence from the team sheet tonight:
"If you saw the last performances from him, you don't need to ask me this question."
Thanks for the info!
Seems like the decision on Munteanu was made either last night or today.
Given the timing of the injury report, I'd guess it was a choice made shortly before the team got on the bus up to Chester.
Any word on Louis?
Re: Pirani's absence, it speaks volumes. We'll see what Weiler has to say after the match.
With 2 GKs on the bench... that's certainly a choice
Per DCU comms, Baribo trained Thursday and Friday.
Pirani's absence is, I'm told, a "coach's decision."
Felt a lot less grim than last years versions of this imo but it's still not great.
I'd like to agree with @mattdoyle.bsky.social about Weiler's seat heating up.
And Levien never seems to have qualms about spending money.
But that's an awful lot of salary to eat.
We're doing a dual post-game/pre-game presser for Philly on Saturday, and Weiler is coming back to the issue of mentality.
Specifically answering a @blazindw.bsky.social question and saying that he saw "two players laughing" during the match, which he clearly took exception to.

The CSO is in Orange County (probably at a self help seminar) right now so we'll see what his reaction is when he hears about the result (no chance he was watching the match).
I think Rene told the guys to come over and take some abuse from the supporters post-game. Maybe it’s useful for some of the young guys to hear it? Idk
We're going to learn so much about leadership tomorrow
Back here again...
If I was a USL GM, I’d move heaven and earth to sign Jared Stroud. He’s a big deal at this level (please someone buy Jared Stroud)
On Munteanu, René Weiler said he's "happy he's back now," & indicated that he was more or less unable to train for the entire intl. break due to his injury.
"That is not so easy. It was a difficult start for him. But, he was fighting [tonight], had some good things, but no goal chances."
Peltola is a successful signing.
He'll either be a stalwart for the club over the next decade or Garner a nice transfer fee back to Europe in the next few years.
Need more scouting like that from the FO.
As for what this lineup says:
- No major consequences after the accusations of quitting late vs. Dallas. Speaks to possible belief that this was a one-off, which...idk.
- Without Baribo, Munteanu still doesn't start. Unless he's still not fit to play even 45, that's rough stuff.
DCU lineup to face New England:
(442): Johnson; Hefti, Bartlett, Rowles, Kurokawa; Herrera, Peltola, Servania, Peglow; Hopkins, Pirani
Bench: Bono, Antley, Markovic, Stroud, Turner, Kijima, Clark, Munteanu, Murrell
Baribo didn't train through at least Thursday's session, & misses out entirely.
Revolution vs DCU availability report:
Revs
Leo Campana - Lower Body (Out)
Matt Polster - Lower Body (Out)
DCU
Bibi Hakim Karamoko - Illness (Out)
Sean Nealis - Shoulder (Out)
Gabriel Segal- Lower Leg (Out)
Tai Baribo - Thigh (Questionable)
#DCU injury updates:
-Sean Nealis had surgery on his shoulder, will be “out a couple of weeks”
-Tai Baribo hasn’t practiced yet this week and is questionable for this weekend. Baribo “could make the bench this weekend but may also be out of the squad” against New England.
Inbox: D.C. United confirms that Sean Nealis suffered a fractured clavicle against FC Dallas.
He had surgery on Monday, and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
