He says after his parents died, he didn’t have anyone to regularly speak Korean with anymore. Gulp. I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Also, I called my mom.
So the guy working the smog check found out I was doing Korean language lessons because my phone was still connected to my car stereo via Bluetooth. A little embarrassing. Turns out he’s Korean American too (I thought he was Japanese) and his speaking skills are also rusty in adulthood.
While we're on the subject of this scene in Way of the Dragon, I've always maintained that the spectacular move of Bruce ripping off a handful of Chuck's chest hair is, yes, gross, but also an anti-colonialist flex.
