He thinks dumping on trans people is the magic spell that will make him popular.

Totem Lesson 1, oil painting by Jackson Pollack, 1944, on display at the Anderson Collection, Stanford University.
I don't know if it's my neurospiciness or lack of cultural education or what, but I have a hard time connecting emotionally with artwork. For example, I was at a museum this weekend where I saw this Jackson Pollack painting, and all I could think was, "gee, that looks like a pokeball at the top."
So much this!
I keep thinking about the guy quoted in an article last year who voted for Trump because it was fun, like sports, and was surprised to learn there were actual consequences to people's lives. I don't know how we address the fact that so many voters are so fundamentally misinformed.
Random thought: how come they don't call it "baking pop" in the midwest?
I wrote about the excellent history "The Intermediaries: A Weimar Story" by Brandy Schillace and its parallels with current events
The federal government is attempting to coerce Stanford Med School into releasing sensitive admissions data that could compromise student privacy. Join Cardinal Courage in calling on Stanford to protect student privacy by refusing to comply voluntarily with this invasive and inappropriate demand.

I'm imagining an army of robots that are really good at running away.
Save the Green Planet has more of an over the top comic book vibe, I think. Also gave me Repo Men vibes. Bugonia was more polished.
My meaningless take of the day: I love Emma Stone/Jorgos Lanthimos collaborations, but I confess that I enjoyed "Save the Green Planet" more than I enjoyed "Bugonia". Maybe because I saw the former first, idk.
I can't believe I went with L'il Meddler when Bette Meddler was right there.
Yes! Now hospitals in New York and California have no excuse not to reopen their gender care clinics, though I'm not naive enough to believe they will do so without pressure from State AGs.
If Democrats take the Senate in the mid-terms there better be no more judicial confirmations, SCOTUS or otherwise, as long as Trump/Vance are in office.
Post a weird take about modern TV shows. I'll start...
I kind of hate all the texting going on among TV characters. Either they go by too fast or I have the wrong glasses on (I'm old), but I'm constantly going, "wait, what?" and having to back up.
It's torment nexuses all the way down.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe..."
Bluesky system status message "We are investigating an incident with service in one of our reginos" with an arrow pointing to the misspelled word "regions".
If this were Star Trek, Spock would point to this typo as evidence that the Enterprise computer had been hacked. In the real world, I point to it as evidence that everything is becoming enshittified.
This woman is a handpicked Trump supporter from Arkansas and she is less anti-trans than the median Atlantic columnist

A good read from A.R. Moxon
"At a certain point of wealth, what is being pursued seems not to be wealth, but the ability to make other people suffer. What's being pursued is immunity from human decency; the ability and even the right to be depraved with impunity."

Cover of anthology "We Will Rise Again"
I ended up with an extra copy of "We Will Rise Again" because I forgot that I had pre-ordered it (oopsie), but I'm very pleased it auctioned for $65 for Point of Pride during the #transrightsreadathon auction. Annalee Newitz @older.bsky.social @pointofpride.org
