In a way, you also sort of expect of them to give some backstory, to understand where they come from.
Sephiroth has a whole & rather long flashback dedicated to that.
But beside him & maybe a tiny bit for Rufus, they don't really bother most of the time. Or it's really elusive & missable.

Sometime i wonder if Elena's way of speaking could have potentially changed during script writing if the writers at the time knew the devs might give her the pink gun & maybe have them potentially give her a bit of a gyaru/valley girl accent?
the number of times characters will drop lines like this & make me go: uh, care to elaborate on that?? & they don't in the compilation bcos they're not the main party or something get really frustrating at times

Rufus' dialogue is hard to nail because this is a guy who likes to yap abt politics & buisness at lenght (ac & dissidia oo is really on point with that characterization).
He sounds really monotonous & boring if he has a dialogue partner who doesn't bounce back.
Pulling out again all my dialogue, lore dump heavy & political comics & manga that do a good job illustrating those scenes i own to study art & lettering composition for that kind of scenes for my fancomic like

tbh, i think her in-game Elena & Rufus portraits are her weakest ones ( Iri lacks her usual cat eye like shape & meow meow energy and Rufus' iconic bang doesn't look great) but she improved herself with her portrait of BC Rufus & her art for Elena's trading card
Ruiri mirroring Cloti pose is so satisfying when you like both ships
yeah, i was annoyed upon seeing how yt washed Rude is the first time i saw it. I'm so tired of that shit.
It's so disappointing bcos the art style looks so good & the texture looks amazing with their suits.
Lisa Fujise still has drawn the best Rude out there so far
