more generally, old twitter was important for me to be able to participate in professional/community conversations when i didn't really have an organizational imprimatur.
i liked that a lot. that kind of thing happened a lot, often much more pleasantly.
it doesn't happen that much on here, though this exchange really was lovely.
on old twitter, i was talking about a paper i wrote about a system for collecting and using fragmentary and contradictory evidence of the command hierarchy of security forces around the world (related to a client project), and a librarian got mad at how i was missing something obvious in her field

the data journalism movement of the early 2010s made a big difference in my career, even i though was on the edges of journalism.
i'm trying to bring some of the lessons how data journalism developed into my current position as a tech worker in the labor movement.
this weekend will be a big test!

i've been using OR-tools to manage my todo list for about five months, mainly as a way to procrastinate, but it's been also an opportunity to reflect on multi-objective optimization.
