A few corrections:

Game: "JSR Festival (VRChat)"
Release: 10/15/2021

We know VRChat struggled over past few years based off comments in dev streams, when explaining the push for store items/consumables.

I honestly didn't expect rec room to go down before VRC, I assumed player count was huge but I guess younger audience didn't translate to good business either. (2/2)

Suddenly a few vr companies downsizing & rec room shutting down. I wonder how much of this is investor related, like was it investors pulling out of vr in reaction to horizon being removed?

Or is it just a case of costs catching up only and existing investments just not being enough anymore? (1/2)

From a design pov, 1 of my big takeaways was the confirmation that leaving the player wanting more is better than risking the player burning out on a level. The game always switched characters/location at right time where I felt "Oh I could have done more of this" but never "I'm bored with this".

I do wish there was a hard difficulty selectable at the start, since some situations like boss fights were a bit too easy, but that surprisingly wasn't too much of a negative point since I was legit enjoying the game so much.

Finished RE9. Enjoyed it from start to end, there wasn't a moment where it dropped in enjoyment factor for me. I felt the pacing was good and I wasn't ever feeling that I want to move to the next section due to zone/area fatigue (compared to say the water section of RE village).

yeah I agree on that. Alyx always comes to mind as an inventory system that never got in the way of actual gameplay.

Feel such a disconnect from the current vr market at times. I'm not a fan of physics based combat & also body pockets/pouches for storing items. From a purely consumer pov I find that both end up with me fighting with it at times when I want precision...

My 1st devlog is out for "Road to making a VR game".
I'm hoping to make this a series as I go from R&D to game release, so I hope its interesting as a behind the scenes as well as giving a boost in motivation to others making their first game too.

spent today recording, editing first devlog of my standalone game journey as well as making a plan for future devlogs. Hopefully to document my progress from R&D stage to deciding on what game I want to make all the way up to completion of that project 🤞

Holy shit Bullet Time Agent being untethered from the hellscape that is VR chat is a much welcome surprise. Did a few speedruns on release and wished it was a standalone game.

Extremely fun game, if you like difficult games where you punch shit this is 1000% worth wishlisting

congrats on beating the game 🙌
I read your review in the alt text, it was a generous review, thank you so much 🙇‍♂️ (and yeah, the criticism is completely understandable too 😁). Glad you liked it.

Whereas most games in the VRChat Games tab are party games or idlers, BTA is an experience that will have you sweating no matter what platform you're on. It eases you into its mechanics with its platforming and puzzle solving, while gradually ramping up the intensity on the combat before throwing you into FPS bullet hell action, the likes of which I haven't seen since Drunken Robot Pornography in 2014 (It's a real game, look it up).

The bosses were easily the highlight of the game, but could have been spaced out better. The second of my three streams was completely devoid of them before hitting me with two bosses in the final act, an unforgiving gauntlet of enemy encounters separating them. The final stretch was frustrating as hell, but none of the deaths felt cheap. For the nearly half a thousand times I died, I had no one to blame for myself (and that one Valkyrie unit hiding under Hildr like a child running to its big sister 🤬)

In short, if you want to see the full force of what VR gaming is capable of, but can't drop the money for Half-Life: Alyx, definitely give BTA a shot. If it proves too challenging near the end, you can always backtrack for upgrades or, if worst comes to it, switch to PC controls.

It was unfortunate to see Lakuza part ways with VRChat when he did. Climbing Trials: Colossus was one of the first worlds I ever played, and JSR Festival is just an all-around great world that I still come back to now and then. Seeing a “small prototype” grow into something so expansive over the course of six years, you couldn't have asked for a better send-off.

To reiterate what I said on-stream, “I could not be more grateful for all that he's done, and I'm wishing him all the best in his future endeavors.”

yeah, cyanlaser was pointing me to this too when I was mentioning that red's system would work in URP. I had no idea unity 6 had advanced their own light probe system too, will definitely catch up on this. Thanks :)
