Hater here too but also agree he’d be better than Collins (lowest of bars). But his damage to the party could be significant. I don’t trust any of these “antiestablishment” populists to do more than continue building their brand by bashing the Dem party and obstructing good but imperfect policy.

Yeah it isn’t as complicated as the op seems to be suggesting here. It’s our new information environment. Everyone has their own reality now.

No need to make others miserable when you're already "straight edge"

He grew up in ivy private boarding schools. He was never ”not educated.”

He comes from wealth & DC connections his fathers side of family.

He spent 7 years at a DC uni with diplomats and trust fund kids. He spent a year hanging out in Europe.

He knew better, knows better and STILL uses slurs.

I'm tired of progressives trashing Democrats for not doing enough and ignoring the fact that with Republicans holding the White House, the Senate, and the House, Dems have virtually no power.

Maybe don't sit home or vote third party next election. Vote Dem and give them power for change.

If you support Graham Platner for Senator from Maine, you are not a good person.

Period.

There is no arguing this fact. A good and decent person would never support a dishonest lying mercenary who is blatantly racist, sexist, homophobic and antisemitic, who blames rape victims for their rapes, etc

You’re too easy on him and too hard on Mills. I would hope you would hold them both to the same standard.

Because he centers himself in that non-apology. It’s always steeped in grievance and self pity.

She has good reasons to not sign that moratorium. This is another belief based on the worst most nefarious interpretation. I don’t believe you actually care about these issues.

Different rules for the guy with no experience, who has not actually apologized for all the horrible stuff he’s said (as recently as 2024), but tells you what you want to hear. Worst possible interpretation for what Mills has done while actually governing. That’s the issue with your approach.

I keep having to repeat this, because it keeps getting truer and truer and is a huge reason why we're in our current death spiral

This is basically how every conversation on every topic goes nowadays. “Yeah, sure, republicans *want* to destroy this thing but they won’t end up doing it so it’ll be fine BUT what about when the Dems did (something untrue I have a vague recollection of through a game of internet telephone)?”

White guy talking that antiestablishment talk and promising big changes. That’s all it takes, apparently.

I feel like I‘m in Bananaland. How is Platner still in? Leave aside the Nazi tattoo, his lies about it, his past & present use of slurs and his gross work history. The fact is he voted for Collins multiple times, his *own staff* resigned over these issues and zero experience. Fetterman redux?🍸

Being anti-establishment (a very pliable term) is extremely popular right now. I think it’s the result of an overly simplistic view of how we got here and what it will take to return to some kind of normal.

I see what Jeffries is doing here, but it's also very telling that in response to Jeffries calling out the Republican majority for confirming these noms, just about every vote passing the 50 mark if you count just the GOP votes, nearly all the replies demand smoke only for the handful of Dem votes

I guess his carpetbagging sugar baby can run the other site as a consolation prize since it’ll just attack people from the left now & still call itself satire.

So America is in ruin because a bunch of people craved some fake moral superiority over a conflict happening on the other side of the world in which they have no skin, and from which they are completely safe from harm.
🙄

Like so many needed improvements, we must first gain and retain way more political power. Then we can really improve the party. Right now it’s war for our survival. No time for nitpicking.

My only problem with this is the same people who use “get money out of politics” to constantly bash Dems are defending Bernie’s support of Steyer by correctly pointing out that a hardline ban on big money, applied only to Dems, just disempowers the party and puts them at a huge disadvantage.
