Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

I am so tired of hearing “it’s Netanyahu”, it is, but it is so much more than just one man responsible for such barbarity. It is an army, a large proportion of Israeli society who do or support such atrocities on other human beings.
Who’s going to tell these councillors that the moment they step out of their cars, they’re pedestrians too? By their own logic, they’d need to be in hi-vis at all times.
Rather than tackling dangerous driving or poor road design, the responsibility gets dumped on the most vulnerable people instead.
So much of our language reflects
the common “car first” bias around our streets, & we should never forget that much of that language was the result of deliberate campaigns to specifically re-write our perspective of streets as “for cars only.” This is one of the more subtle, but important, examples.
#WATCH | Israeli army sets fire to the homes of residents in Southern Lebanon.
Burning down civilian homes to the ground because all they want is destruction and occupation.
You think Israelis smashing Jesus statues is rare in Israel?
Think again… watch this.
IDF soldier hits Jesus statue with an hammer
🧵 Yesterday's viral image of an IDF soldier desecrating a statue of Jesus in Lebanon was not the first instance of anti-Christian behavior by the IDF.
Netanyahu "condemned" the action, but this is not the first time IDF (or Israelis in general) act against Christians

If this man had murdered eight strangers the story would lead every news outlet. But because they are his children, it's "family violence," "domestic violence" -- undeserving of the same attention. Even though this violence is much more common

Western Values Update™: sounds about right
(Outright admissions are still not enough evidence to convince Islamophobes that Israel is fundamentally a Nazi level evil ofc.)
It's easy to succumb to outrage fatigue. But this was four days ago. 2,000 killed. 1.2 million displaced. Entire villages demolished. A 40km 'buffer zone' (10% of Lebanon's territory) annexed. It's barely raised a resigned shrug, but it meets the criteria for war crime. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I am increasingly of the opinion that the moment Avengers Endgame first hit the theatres, everybody involved in Marvel Studios was cursed by a witch and forgot how to do everything that made people like their films.
Why is no one hair on fire that half a million children have died in the year since USAID was gutted?
Why don’t these kids deserve the same outrage as others dying in war or genocide?
Is it because these children’s deaths aren’t politically advantageous to those running in primaries for Congress?
"When I started writing about the climate crisis in the 1980s I was in my twenties, and I didn’t fully comprehend that there could be a force on this planet so steeped in greed & power that it would sacrifice the earth & its inhabitants for its own narrow interests. But there is, and it’s Big Oil."
NYC study shows men are 2.6x more likely than women to bike to work. When protected bike lane coverage is high, women’s cycling rates rise significantly faster than men’s.
When protected lanes are limited or fragmented, women’s participation drops sharply.
Good bike investments give women choices.
