Read this book. You’ll thank me later.

(For absolutely “every” reason at all, you should want to read this.)
Top 3 most recommended, favorite reads this year! I absolutely loved it.
This picture features three books from the Aardvark Book Club set on top of and in front of its box. The three books are described as follows: This month’s selection for me was “Julie Chan Is Dead” by Liann Zhang. The cover is black, with the lower half featuring a graphic design of identical blond haired women staring at identical red phones, except for the lone woman in the middle with black hair, holding up her phone, looking out at you, the potential reader. The second book is a selection from April called “Dissolution “ by Nicholas Binge. This is a completely abstract cover in which the title and author’s name are on different “steps” that look almost like an episode of STNG (I’m thinking from S1 where they are trying to stop time from changing on that one planet?). I digress. Blue sky and white clouds fill the background and either blue lightening or water fills the stairs. Is it up to your interpretation? Who knows. Book 3 is “The Strange Case of Jane O.” by Karen Thompson Walker. This cover is a dreamy combination of red, orange, green, purple and blue colors with a faded picture of a woman who has a haunted look, particularly in her eyes, making up the entirety of the cover.
Bookmail Friday!
Happy to add to my ever growing collection, this time featuring selections from @aardvarkbookclub.bsky.social. (They have hit it out of the park this year! I keep finding myself going back to pick up selections I missed.)
Can’t wait to get started on these beauties.

Oh goodness! I loved this book… I read it in a day. It left one of those aches inside me.

Photo of the book “Tilt,” written by Emma Pattee. This is one of the Aardvark Book Club’s April selections.
How to spend a Friday evening @aardvarkbookclub.bsky.social edition:
Receive April books.
Start April book you “took a chance on.”
Finish said book a mere 2.5 hrs later after devouring it.
Somehow feel better about… all that stuff happening out there.
5 stars. Would recommend.

I just bought this… and while I’m eager to crack open this book, I’m scared to as well.
The List of Suspicious Things is next on my list of things to order from you! Putting a “Brit list” together this weekend!
Let’s talk about how excited I am for this one, esp after getting my paperback copy of The Tainted Cup ruined at the beach. What better excuse do I have to buy a new copy PLUS the SEQUEL?
The Tainted Cup is THE BEST BOOK I’ve read so far this year (it’s young, I know)!

I just typed in Quantum Criminals and read the description and I think you two may be kindred spirits. He has his BA in Jazz Guitar, but his true love is classic rock. I believe we are going to have to wrap our house in black fabric when Ringo and Paul die.
These are FANTASTIC! All are going into my special StoryGraph Christmas shelf just for him. Thank you!
You are my people!!!
(A week in Mexico to read by the pool and beach… heaven! And I kept it up for a few days after I got home… but the digital crept in, of course!)
Ditto. ☺️
I love this series oh so much! I think Gamache is such a well thought out and well rounded character. As in, you can feel his feelings, you hear his thoughts. (It might just be me.) And, I think Louise Penny is not only a great author; she is a great person with strong convictions.
Oh dear… I might need some more suggestions from you. Or at least pictures of your bookcases. I always buy my husband obscure Jazz and Blues titles each year for Christmas… and you look like quite the expert 😁 Any Bix, Sidney B, King Oliver, Fats Waller, etc suggestions?
Also, I am not a book writer, and sometimes I feel that puts me at a disadvantage. I am truly a reader. A reader of many genres, and that is what I want to do is read and show. Read, read, read. Suggest, commiserate, glow, love, dislike, recommend, steer away, etc. Does that make sense?
Hi Nellie! I’ve been out of town and on a leetle bit of a digital detox, so I’ve neglected my #BookSky dreadfully. If it’s any of these, it’s #1 and #2. But, I have found an amazing community here. I love our resources (i.e. when I wanted to order a book from the UK, I got instant replies!).
Oh my. I love Jasper Fforde. I just wish he’d write a Thursday Next book a year.
Aha! I love learning these things. And, I thought the UK covers were so much better than the US. I’m probably going to have to order those. I need to pace myself! I just ordered the Vintage Collector’s classics set of the Gothic Ones. So maybe an order a month? 😂🧐🤦🏻♀️
