RUIZ: Bloomberg reports that Trump & the WH have benched you because you're making the president look bad
RFK Jr: That's not true
RUIZ: I think the reporting is correct. You're making the president look bad. You talked publicly about snorting cocaine off a toilet bowl seat. Your words, not mine.

On @kavehmd.bsky.social’s podcast, @angierasmussen.bsky.social and I both said that Dr. Erica Schwartz is a great pick for CDC Director, but her ability to do her job hinges on one thing:
RFK Jr. needs to STFU and get the hell out of her way.
Well, he refuses to commit to that.
n.b. I fucking hate partisan gerrymandering, and I would like to see it outlawed nationally. I think it's bad for the actual citizenry that's supposed to be represented. But a one-sided Republican-only gerrymander is worse, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
"I was ABSOLUTELY told that the Democrats would be bringing knives to the gun fight. What the fuck are they doing bringing guns?" --a whole lot of Republicans looking at the results from Virginia right now
Maybe there’s something to this, but there’s also a bit of a rose-tinted retrospection here, in that when we think about media of, say, the 70s & 80s we recall stuff with contemporary staying power & forget how witless & childish a hell of a lot of THAT was.
This story deserves more attention. The gunman who killed two at FSU last year, injuring five, asked ChatGPT for advice on how many people one would need to kill for a school shooting to receive media attention, when the campus would be busiest, and how to use his gun.
State AG is investigating.
lmao "let's turn the Blue Ridge blue" is salt in the wound and i love it
although now that i'm back online, the republican crashouts over Virginia are pretty good
Jesus amazing
I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals
No one will ever trust us again. In time of crisis, we will have no one who to whom we can turn, no one who will stand by our side. Day-in and day-out this administration betrays our allies and enables our enemies. It is perverse and nauseating.

Maybe Trump shouldn't have illegally fired half the workforce of Northern Virginia.
Given the fact that I devote a full 6 weeks every other year specifically to the idea of voting rights, I have sincerely grappled with the idea of retributive gerrymandering. Like, earnestly. I think there are reasons to feel weird about it, and it's fair!
But this IS a sincere difference.
the question, the same one asked by Jimmy Carter before he lost 44 states, is how the hell to pivot while you're still in power and everything bad is still Your Fault
He can’t say no to this because, technically, he was on the clock at the Olympics. We paid for that and there’s video of him getting ripped. So we already have proof of at least one instance.
one of the ways the mid to late 20th century political world has distorted the historical memories of even sophisticated observers is in the idea that you can achieve major transformations of american political life through something like bipartisan consensus

by what looks to be a comfortable margin, Virginia voters have approved the L. Louis Lucas Republican Eradication Act of 2026
Trump's in a steady decline with no turnaround in sight.
Right now, Republicans are worried about being outflanked on the right, but as soon as we move past the heart of primary season in May and June, they'll start panicking about the general election and try to escape. It'll be too late.
are we supposed to open these
as it becomes clear that Yes has won in VA and gerrymandering will pass, a message to Republican voters:
you brought this on yourselves
you convinced the most fairness-obsessed, That Wouldn’t Be Fair-minded voters in the country to affirmatively vote to put you in the dumpster
you earned this
Aside from who started it, states like CA and VA putting a counter-gerrymander up to a referendum, where people are told and can make a decision on the context for why it's being done, has vastly more democratic legitimacy than state legislators rushing it through because they got bullied by POTUS.
if this polling result surprises you, i am issuing emergency guidance for you to touch grass immediately
