Exciting news! Our latest paper is now published 🎉
We dive into the fear generalization literature to see how individual fear gen profiles are typically quantified, extracted the most commonly used measures, and compared them using simulated and empirical data: doi.org/10.1016/j.bp...
🧠 Alpha power reductions, 👀 gaze centralization, and ❤️ autonomic responses were more strongly shaped by the possibility to act than by the threat’s intensity.
These findings underscore the interconnected nature of affective and motor processes, offering new perspectives on human defensive behavior.

Together with @yannikstegmann.bsky.social & @gamerlab.bsky.social, we used EEG, eye-tracking, and autonomic data to disentangle threat intensity ⚡️ from action possibility 🏃♂️ in states of attentive immobility.
@jannateigeler.bsky.social opening PuG2025 symposia 🚀 presenting our gaze-based approach-avoidance task #AAT 👀
Turns out it’s actually hard to transfer traditional AAT paradigms to #eye-tracking. Attention is likely influenced by additional factors like salience and arousal🔥
Congratulations @kimsobania.bsky.social (1st prize) and @jannateigeler.bsky.social (runner up) and @ecemtavacioglu.bsky.social (runner up) for winning the poster awards at the European Meeting on Human Fear Conditioning. Great science, awesome presentations! #emhfc2025

🎉 Very proud to share my first published PhD paper 🎊
With @gamerlab.bsky.social, @jannateigeler.bsky.social and the amazing bachelor students Kaja Kümpel and Madita Schindler, we investigated how trait social anxiety influences social attention in naturalistic situations 🌳🏡

📣 New paper alert! Together with @jannateigeler.bsky.social, Arash Mirifar, @akeil1927.bsky.social, and @gamerlab.bsky.social we looked at correlates of attentive immobility during the anticipation of avoidable vs unavoidable threats in two samples from Germany and the US. doi.org/10.1523/JNEU...
