3 years ago, I quit my job and started a new life as an indie dev, thinking I would need to find another job after my savings run out. 3 years later, the little games we made sold more than 500k copies combined. I don't need to find a job anymore! THANK YOU π

this might be a skill issue on my end, but I am really looking forward to the custom_maximum_size property on Control nodes.
all will rise is handing back Microsoft money & pledging @nogamesforgenocide.com β itβs a difficult thing to do when funding and attention are scarce commodities for indies like us, but we hope more of our fellow devs and indie studios will join us in taking a stand π₯

I've been running gdcparties.com for a few years now. Some shitty company BlueberryAI decided they'd just take all the source code for the work I've done and reskin it, advertising it as their own. Jokes on them...it was still linked to my events spreadsheet, and now their website looks like this π
That too the first race of a new regset. Unskippable. Should be pure chaos.
I'm happy to announce that we've now reached 10,000 wishlists for SCOPECREEP!
When I started this idea in a game jam, I never thought I would make it this far. And it's all because of the support of all of you!
I can't thank you enough!

when the state machine finally works as expected
SCOPECREEP reached Very Positive on Steam just in time for Next Fest! Be sure to go play the demo and also leave a little review on there if you haven't already! (thank you to all of you who already did <3)

as a malayali game dev, couldn't be more excited to play this game!
Honestly, AI slop PRs are becoming increasingly draining and demoralizing for #Godot maintainers.
If you want to help, more funding so we can pay more maintainers to deal with the slop (on top of everything we do already) is the only viable solution I can think of:

Considering gamedevs work on games more often than they breathe, a more challenging game jam premise would be to explicitly disallow game development for a week. The Literally Anything Else Jam.
I've pushed some major changes to Gridlam! I wasn't happy with a pure Survivors-like so I mashed together elements of Shogun Showdown and Into The Breach as well. Hopefully it's a fun experience. Would really like some feedback! #Godot #GameDev miffrandir.itch.io/gridlam
i playtested this game and highly recommend SCOPECREEP if you're into incrementals. go check it out, demo now on steam!
P.S: @foolbox.bsky.social 's twitch chat is a great place to hang out in and bait him into talking about how we all hate AI.
walaber blowing my mind as usual.
Officially announcing my next game, and it's about:

In the span of weeks, I've gone from someone who has never used Godot, to struggling to "get" Godot, to really liking Godot, to having taught aspiring gamedevs the basics of Godot, to strongly believing Godot's workflow & structure might be the best approach to developing games for many purposes.

commit message saying gremlins have been replaced with frogs.
can't write these commit messages for my day job now, can i?
This feels like a pretty big moment for me. A few months ago I didn't think I'd have a game on the Popular Upcoming list anytime soon.
But we did it!
I want to take a moment to share a strange feeling I've been having.
Confidence.

Best of luck, I've referred to your blog a lot in my own Godot game dev journey!

i feel like i am struggling through the book of shaders. each shader exercise takes me an hour (minimum) to understand. but i really, really want to write my own, cool shaders for gridlam. sigh, this might take a while.
for real though godot is one of the few projects out there that actually democratizes gamedev instead of talking about democratizing it
The indie of the week logo.
Over at Kotaku, we are trying to cover at least one cool indie game every week. It's called Indie of the Week!

I've been working on getting my demo ready, and I'm still wondering how to end it in a way that leave the player interested. That's what I have so far, what do you all think?

My interactive tween guide for Godot is out !
If you have trouble using tweens, adding "Juice" or picking the right transition, it should hopefully help!
The guide is free and will always be π©΅

Rebecca was one of the founders of Interplay and programmed & designed for some of the most influential games of my youth, notably Bard's Tale I & III and Wasteland. She will be missed.
For today's #ScreenshotSaturday, I figured I'd post an example 15 second video for the showcase I'm putting together! Hope you can participate, and maybe consider wishlisting KOOK on Steam as well!
