I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

My thoughts are with our Jewish neighbors after another horrifying antisemitic attack, this time in Boulder. Hate has no place in our country.
Alright then, keep your secrets

I don’t know a soul who’s not been battered
I don’t have a friend who feels at ease
I don’t know a dream that’s not been shattered
Or driven to its knees
Oh, but it’s all right, it’s all right
For we lived so well so long ...
we've had one recession, yes. what about second recession?
A group of Japanese Americans and several white women and men pose for a black-and-white photograph. They are wearing casual clothing and pose in five lines in a group shot. Some are holding children. The background is a grassy hill with pine trees.
It always feels weird to talk about my work, but I want to put this out there:
I'm writing a book about this heroic group of Japanese Americans, who taught Japanese to members of the U.S. Navy in Boulder, CO during the height of anti-Asian discrimination in the U.S. in WWII.
Well, they lied. Obviously.
Just a reminder: having a functional moral compass right now is going to make you feel bad all the time; don’t mistakenly hate yourself for that.

All those science fiction and YA dystopian books I read as a kid didn’t prepare me for how mundanely cringe the current authoritarian power grab is. no style, panache, or sauce. Just a bunch of morally bankrupt weirdos with awful fashion sense and outdated troll humor.
fucked up that we can’t even afford to emotionally eat our way through this
The slow burn on this series is 100% worth it! It was so satisfying when everything finally clicks into place

The same could be said for any day in the last 6 weeks - but today really feels like a good day to read this one.

Would recommend checking out Dollar Tree Dinners on TikTok! She posts videos on making your money stretch and providing options on how to put together meals. Some of the meals are fun and some are for emergency situations where money is extremely tight.
