🚨This study led by @anikawuestefeld.bsky.social aims to provide a more granular understanding of how tau pathology leads to specific cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease. 🧠 Out now in Alzheimer’s & Dementia! Read it here: doi.org/10.1002/alz....

Really happy that the final paper of my PhD is out now!
It was great to work on this project with Dave Wolk (@picslupenn.bsky.social) & @lemwisse.bsky.social and all others involved!
See below for more information! 👇
So excited to attend #AAIC25 in person again this year! Looking forward to a week of exciting science to #ENDALZ.
Very proud of my trainees who will be presenting their work - don't forget to tune in!
This is your quarterly reminder that the hippocampus is a cortical (not subcortical) structure! Nicola Palomero-Gallagher underscored this point during our #OHBM2025 educational course!
Come work in my dept! We are hiring a lecturer in psychology (ideally speaking Dutch) @leidenpsychology.bsky.social

Very proud of @anikawuestefeld.bsky.social for finishing her PhD thesis on the medial temporal lobe in aging and dementia! Following Swedish tradition, the thesis is now nailed to the wall.... last step before the defense next week. I have no doubt she will nail this too!

New integration with nnInteractive (github.com/MIC-DKFZ/nnI...) in ITK-SNAP 4.4.0-alpha2 (itksnap.org) lets you turn scribbles into 3D segmentations in seconds. All thanks to an amazing new model from Fabian Isensee and colleagues at @helmholtzimaging.bsky.social!
Very important article on Down syndrome and AD by Buehner et al.(shorturl.at/ETFUz) highlighting the non-linear trajectories of structural changes in MTL subregions in patients with Down syndrome & AD and the utility of MTL structural markers for clinical trials and prediction of decline.
So excited and honored to be invited to present the opening plenary at #AIC2025 this year in Toronto! 🧠
🙏 I would be very grateful if you could help me gather the most inspiring papers (including your own!) of the past year by completing this ~5min survey: alz.surveymonkey.com/r/923BTQK
Woohoo!!
🧠 PhD position available!
Study polypathology in the medial temporal lobe at the Paris Brain Institute with @lemwisse.bsky.social , @nvillain-alz.bsky.social and myself.
This exciting project combines neuroimaging, neuropathology and cognition!
Please share widely 🙏
Exciting opportunity for a PhD position at the @institutducerveau.bsky.social on a European collaborative project under the supervision of medial temporal lobe specialists!

If judge don’t stop, NIH employees review new/ongoing projects:
Cat 1: solely support DEI activities. CUT
Cat 2: partially support. Renegotiate or CUT
Cat 3: don’t support but some DEI language. Cont./cut language in app/progress reports.
Cat 4: don’t support any. Cont & DEI not in reports.
Excited that is also available in new version of ASHS including not only anterior MTL cortical regions but also the amygdala!
www.nitrc.org/frs/shownote...
The amygdala protocol developed by @anikawuestefeld.bsky.social is described in the supplements of alzres.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....
Beautiful work by Niyousha Sadeghpour developing a manual segmentation protocol for the anterior MTL cortex, important in AD and LATE! Grounded in a large set of annotated histology sections and postmortem MRI scans, labelled by the late Ricardo Insausti & his team.

Also big thanks to coauthors @anikawuestefeld.bsky.social @drneurochic.bsky.social and Bill Jagust!
Lovely collaboration with Renaud La Joie - our review is finally out! Summarizing the role of tau and TDP-43 in medial temporal atrophy in Alzheimer's disease and exploring different hypotheses regarding their potential timing and synergism.
