was using “full academic scholarship” as a specific term of art to distinguish merit based aid from needs based aid
no one gets a full ride to either school purely from high gpa and ACT score

"the colleges that dominate the headlines are not the colleges that most Americans attend
their core mission: to serve students from all backgrounds, at a price families can actually afford, prepare graduates for real careers and meaningful lives."

I was thinking about this today. My university’s tuition/fees for next year are $42k. This compares to 57k at Loyola or 70k for Northwestern. (Most aren’t paying sticker price at any of these places.)
It also compares to an in-state $15k at Governor’s State or UIC. Or $20k at UIUC. Or 12k at CCC.
12y ago I choose UIC specifically because of costs and it was fantastic decision
even with full academic scholarships from depaul/loyola, UIC was an order of magnitude cheaper
Allowed me to pay off loans within a few years of graduating and it had zero impact on my earning potential
less than 24hours ago: we believe dianna
today, the actual people who run that place: WHAT
luckily high energy prices have no effect on the price of physical goods
I guess boycotting Harry Potter feels pretty trivial to me, because I'm an adult. if someone told me I shouldn't eat Gerber's baby food, I'd be like, that is no problem. I'm way ahead of you
Former Bears backup QB Austin Reed went 26/40, 376 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, and 0 INTs for the Dallas Renegades today.
the back-to-back Stroud/Daniels rookie seasons convinced pundits to always go against QB consensus at the top of the draft
If correct, they get to talk about it during every media hit for the next two years
If incorrect, nobody remembers
(this also explains shaddeur-mania last year)
Also, it’s been pointed out to me that #Bears is not exclusively about the Chicago Bears football team, but I find that to be funny and shall continue using it.
taught me a very important lesson that my bluesky feed is very different than others
just got a work email with the subject “US-Isreal[sic]/Iran Conflict”
It includes phrases such as “as tension builds in the Middle East” & “brand safety and/or security measures… in response to to this turmoil”
dystopian in a very specific late capitalism way
The market ≠ the economy. And presidents don't control either. But since stock markets are Trump's preferred metric for judging his successes as president, this context seems useful.
Ian Cunningham expresses confusion on why the #Bears didn’t receive draft compensation for his hiring in Atlanta. Made it clear he wouldn’t have gotten the job without his time in Chicago. Said he doesn’t know the exact wording of the rule, but “I would think they would get two third round picks.”
I think part of the problem with the pop culture reaction to Epstein is that we’re already seeing a lot of it revolve around conspiracy, which is a deflection from accountability as well as an easy excuse for it to not be taken seriously (as we’re already seeing with the opinion pieces)
there are plenty of emails that are like “hello Jeff my friend, please procure me some young girls for sex xoxo - billionaire”
counting the amount of times “pizza” appears in the files is the quickest way to undermine any accountability
This feels like a threat
It’s really crazy that Skip Bayless was making $7 million a year and now he’s a guy who gets fewer YouTube views than a hobby painter
There's three votes for anything on the supreme court. If trump said "I'm the god-king of arrakis" he'd get three votes and a lengthy opinion about the long history and tradition of english common law with regards to the spice melange
Inconceivable that a society who lived through the housing collapse less than a generation ago has unironically adopted the idea that financialization of everything is a societal good
Can bears survive 2026 without signing or drafting a LT?
Braxton Jones is like the 4th best FA T, and we still decided to play undrafted Theo Benedet, rookie Ozzy Trapillo, and guard Joe Thuney over him at various points this season
fyi not a unique case
dummies cosplaying as data scientists bc an LLM told them they can use power’s law reliably predict consumer behavior in Q4 of 2027
and leadership LOVES it bc it removes all ambiguity and variability inherent forecasting
It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.
But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"
If current ICE officials expect it to be gone by the next presidential term, there is no excuse for pretending ‘abolish ice’ rhetoric is inflammatory or inappropriate
The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:
- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE
sorry, but the Founding Fathers' original intent for the 2nd Amendment was always *just* to do school shootings
reporters, influencers, experts, and entertainers are being collapsed into a single category of performer
the performer must build and maintain a following of loyal normies that financially support them
I think winning the future is pretty bleak, it’s individually befriending those individuals
Just staggered by the complete moral void of not even *pretending* to wait for more information before pivoting to “the opponent of the state deserved it.” It is so insanely depraved. Soulless.
