That's fantastic & brings back great memories.
I'm still here.
It feels like there is less content then when I first started, but there's still more contact with real people then other platforms. Because of this, I'm getting enough out of it to hang on. Hopefully it will slowly grow.
Although some turbines use rare earth materials (primarily magnets) many modern wind turbines don’t use rare earth magnets.
Recent research suggests Ferrite (iron) magnets work a little better and - importantly - are cheaper than rare earth magnets.
The 600lb figure for rare earths used in turbines comes from the Institute for Energy Research.
This is a group founded by Charles Koch & primarily funded by companies such as Exxon. It has been described as a front group for the fossil fuel industry.
Solar panels are switching from silver to copper.
The oil is primarily used in the backing sheets, junction boxes, and insulation and manufactures are working on alternatives.
21% is outdated.
High-efficiency commercial panels now commonly exceed 22–24% efficiency.
They champion creating your own moral framework over obeying the ones society thrusts on us.
There are aspects that haven't aged well, but they're fantastically dark fantasy novels had a major impact on me.
The Borribles trilogy.
They have the nostalgia value of a childhood/early teen favorite.
They're early urban fantasy.
They show a deep seated distrust of society.
They're subversive and gleefully feral.
They turn the squats, alleys and abandoned houses of 1970s London into a mythic fantasy world.
Thanks, I really appreciate this.
There's a lot to this, and he also makes some references that I'm looking into. I've already grabbed a book of the poetry of Lalleshwari based on his quote.
But when we crave power over life—endless wealth, unassailable safety, immortality—then desire becomes greed. And if knowledge allies itself to that greed, then comes evil. Then the balance of the world is swayed, and ruin weighs heavy in the scale.
Still making my way through this, piece by piece (I'm acting as a full time carer, so I'm fitting it in the gaps).
It's an excellent session. It's allowed me to consider a number of desperate ideas/practices within a more cohesive framework. I'd really appreciate the other link.
It's interesting considering it in relation to Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, occult semiotics and especially Alphabets of Desire.
I've been reading about Toki Pona, a constructed mini-language with less then 200 words. There's a writing system as well.
It's partly inspired by Taoist philosophy & supposedly encourages speakers to concentrate on basic things.

This looks fascinating and detailed. I'm looking forward to properly digging into it.
Currently watching this, seems good.

This version of The Stone Tape used technology from BBC Research and Development to create a 3D binaural mix designed for headphones.
This is a horror play remixed by a director who would later create a surrealist movie about a Sonic Catering Institute.
If you haven't already come across it, I would suggest Peter Strickland's 2015 radio play adaptation of The Stone Tape

Strickland has always shown a fascination with sound processing. In a 2010 interview he discussed the 'imaginary potential of the act of listening'

It's also good to see full form blog posts. I've recently noted a number of people starting to write blogs again and it's refreshing.
I was recommended blogsareback feed reader which is trying to recreate the blogsphere. It's mostly technical blogs at the moment. Hopefully this will change.
I think there's also something interesting to be said about the J-horror ghost acting in a manner that's reminiscent of a disease vector. They often seem to be things that you can catch, though no particular fault of your own. You say the wrong thing or go to the wrong place & you're haunted.
Really enjoyed this. I was a fan of J-Horror back when it was first hitting Western audiences. I think it's important to assess it's impact against the post-modern/slasher landscape of the late 90s.
Sincere ghost stories that focused on atmosphere were a rarity.
RIP Dolores Keane
This is her in a duet with Mary Black belting out a fantastic version of Hard Times.
She had a hell of a voice.

I've been on a number of forums, bulletin boards and feeds which have devolved into chaos magic memes and 'lol random' posts.
This is prosperity gospel without the Christianity.

I'm sorry, but what the very fuck?
It's like gender. 2 terms are insufficient.
I think this is a really valuable insight. It's another duality that needs to be questioned :)
Well that's my podcast listen for tomorrow sorted - thanks.
