I’ve had success teaching “Eres Un Pocho” by Mark Oshiro and “#Julian4SpiderMan” by Julian Randall. Both are from Wild Tongues Can’t Be Tamed.

All teachers need more time to do their job well.
Period.
Full stop.
Teachers of literature (and all humanities, really) need time to be good students so they can be good teachers of their content and craft. The world changes so fast and we need time to study it.
Kendrick Lamar performing during the halftime show for Super Bowl 59. He wears a blue and white leather jacket, black t-shirt, bootcut jeans, and white sneakers. He’s looking into the camera and smiling while saying “Say, Drake” during a performance of his Grammy-winning diss track, Not Like Us.
“Per my last email.”

Man, being the second flying facial hair commercial of the Super Bowl must be so
embarrassing…
Nor am I!
Hell is empty,
And all the devils are here.
they’ll pry the em dash from my cold, dead hands.

Wow. Just wow.
Unpopular opinion of the day. I think that a lot of young people don’t enjoy pleasure reading because a lot of adults don’t want them to enjoy pleasure reading.

Photo: screenshot of a poem from poetry foundation. How Dark the Beginning Launch Audio in a New Window BY MAGGIE SMITH All we ever talk of is light— let there be light, there was light then, good light—but what I consider dawn is darker than all that. So many hours between the day receding and what we recognize as morning, the sun cresting like a wave that won’t break over us—as if light were protective, as if no hearts were flayed, no bodies broken on a day like today. In any film, the sunrise tells us everything will be all right. Danger wouldn’t dare show up now, dragging its shadow across the screen. We talk so much of light, please let me speak on behalf of the good dark. Let us talk more of how dark the beginning of a day is.
In the tradition that @jess5th.bsky.social started, I wanna share some poems for the new year. I’ll share ‘the one’ I plan to use to guide my 2025 soon. #PoetryPeople you all share too!
I often come back to @maggiesmithpoet.bsky.social’s How Dark the Beginning
Stunning, searing imagery.

But don’t worry, we’ve still got plenty left this season for you. Catch new episodes of #CreatureCommandos every Thursday, with the season one finale dropping January 9 exclusively on @streamonmax.bsky.social.
on “Wonderful Christmastime,” Sir Paul McCartney set out to make a timeless christmas classic and also to figure out what every button on his synthesizer did, and he absolutely succeeded at one of those things

#survivor anti hot-person bias confirmed
Sue literally calling Rachel "Whatshername" on day 22 of #Survivor.
I find that students have gendered expectations about who will/should feed them throughout the semester.
I will never, ever get over this.
They should make a movie or something based on the comic book “Bat Man.” Worth a try?
Finally got to watch the probabilities scene on #survivor.
Andy did a very simple and reasonable analysis to claim it’s “remote” Kyle would win the next four challenges (6.25%).
The assumptions can be argued, but why it got so much pushback is fascinating and a case study in math communication.

Illustrated image divided into four panels, each showing a head of a bat with a text label. Top left: little guy, a regular looking back with a dark face and light colored fur, top right: little guy deluxe, a bat with a mask and large ears alongside a bat with a leaf shaped nose, bottom left: what is even going on here, a visored bat with a large forehead next to a bat with a large, wrinkly nose, bottom right: o hi doggie, a fruit bat with its tongue sticking out.
Contrary to popular belief, there are only four kinds of bats.
They picked the perfect time to bring back having the jury walk in #Survivor47
