Great to see and listen great talks from former postdocs Sathish Srinivasan, Xiaolei Liu, Noelia Escobedo, Ying Yang and Josh Scallan at the Lymphatic Forum in Chicago. Really needed spark in the middle of this dark time in history and so many uncertainties about the future of research in the US.

Essential roles of epicardium in coronary lymphangiogenesis unrelated to coronary blood vasculature development. VEGFD cooperates with VEGFC but only in females. Ester de la Cruz and Vanessa Cadenas in my lab + collaboration with Guillermo Oliver made it possible.

Despite the weather the Chicago scientific community (including prospective young PhD students) gathered today to Stand UP for Science and show that science is for everyone and that NIH support is critical to keep labs running.
Beautiful sunrise today in Chicago. Helps to make you feel better for sometime.

Worth reading this BBC note about lymphatics, lymphedema and other lymphatic malfunction promoted diseases. Circulate around so people become familiar with this condition affecting millions of individuals around the world.

As more people and institutions become interested in the novel findings about the lymphatic vasculature in health and disease, I was encouraged to share this YouTube interview from a year ago where we discussed some of these recent progress and future possibilities.

Terrific first paper from the Liu's lab on the role of CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling in the lymphatic vasculature (and also they got the cover)! Congratulations Xiaolei and many more papers to come
