Carly is such a funny looking spirit pixie kitten. She’s properly running around the whole flat now and coming to us for cuddles, but is still not a fan of Warren, who just wants to play, bless him.

First day at home with Carly content. Though still shy, she’s stopped hiding in the bathroom and settling in great. She’s like a cross between a werewolf, bear cub and porcupine with her random long wiry hairs. We adore her.

Yes, I guess with inside cats, they can't wear them down so well. I just remember us agreeing to have our old cat Norma Jeane's claws trimmed during an op when she had to be an indoor cat for a year - and then saw her slide down the cat tree, haha xx

I don’t do claw trimming, it’s not really a thing in the UK and they need to fulfil their feline instincts by clawing stuff. I will be starting to clean her teeth though so she gets used to that - her step bro Warren is a pro and loves it xx

She is very sweet and is leaning in for fuss and cuddles and purrs instantly. No claws or hissing. She just doesn’t want to leave the bathroom just yet. She’ll be fine - and yes, Lick-e-licks help! Xx

It just suits her in so many ways! Little fluffy Carly Kitten xx

Meet Carly (after Carly Simon). She’s a three month old rescue kitten currently hiding under the sink in the bathroom, so we’ve set a camp up for her there. So this pic is from the other day. Warren has met her briefly and just seems very curious.

Warren, the fierce hunter, has just brought us yet another piece of scaffolding pipe foam. That scaffolding will be bare soon.

Warren’s latest foam-based gift for us, which he clearly thinks is in the best possible taste.

We're currently watching series two again, and the way it's shot still takes my breath away. So many tight crops on the characters' faces, wobbly zoom ins - it's so voyeuristic, you really feel part of the action.

Still in Kilburn, north west London. Been here more than 25 years now, and next month, I'll have been in London for 30 years. Yikes! xx

Glad you're still at it! I remember your Norwich studio so well. I run my own media consultancy these days - bit of editorial strategy, ghost writing, copyrighting, PR & stuff, and still do bit of writing under my own name. Other than that, mostly growing tomatoes and wrangling cats at the moment xx

JYOTI! How the devil are you!? Hope you're great! Do you know what, I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were and what you were up to! xx

A lot of different tomato seedlings labelled by variety in rectangular little plant pots, growing on a white quartz kitchen counter by a kitchen window, in front of a CD radio and a bottle of red cooking wine, and binoculars for garden bird watching, I shit you not.

This is my new rock n’ roll. Total scenes in the kitchen!

Indeed - I'll add that I once went on a press travel trip to Israel. I'll be a shoo-in. xx

Yep. It was a story about safety concerns too - it was the year after there was a crush at the second stage when the Foo Fighters played, and there was danger of there being another when the Strokes played as they'd just blown up, so there were calls for them to play the main stage instead.

This is one of the best things ever. I got given this photocopy by my tutor during a subbing lesson when I was training to be a journalist at the Eastern Daily Press. It's legendary and still makes me hoot laughing.

All this Kanye hoo-haa is reminding of when a certain Melvin Benn & sidekick banned me from Reading Festival for writing a news story he didn't like. There was even a photo of me in the press office to warn them not to let me in (I was meant to be covering it for NME & doing my club night there).

It did indeed get published. It was in a local rag near to where I grew up.

Pretty sure this indirectly came from me you know. I posted it online aeons ago from a photocopy I was given by one of my tutors when I was training to be a journalist at the Eastern Daily Press (it was a subbing lesson). It's one of the best things ever.

Warren is very proud of his latest ‘kill’ - some scaffolding foam that he’s just loudly brought in from god knows where…
