You can't TACO your way out of that, and currently the only options out of this is a total Trump capitulation (whether he pretends otherwise), or a costly, bloody ground invasion with clear no end.

You'd hazard on the former being more likely, but who really can be confident one way or the other.

The current global economy cannot function with nearly 20% of it's oil supplies trapped and disrupted indefinitely and the cost of that is just less consumption of everything.

I still think everyone is underpricing the fact that each day the Strait remains closed, controlled by Iran and blockaded by the US, the chances of a global recession grow.

Equally, if not now than when and I do wonder if the possibility of a global energy induced recession plays on the minds of any potential leadership candidate, looking forward to Autumn/Winter

I did think this, but then their elections are doomed anyway and a new leader (in the unlikely scenario they can elect one before) is highly unlikely to be tied to any loss.

Why not give your local councillors, MSs, MSPs a fighting chance rather than condemning them to doom?

If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to live here and live out my days cosplaying as Cary Grant.

I've come round to the idea that politicians should show less 'personality' and avoid jokey, politainment set-ups like the plague. The merits of being professional, sober and avoiding being crass are much underappreciated.

I mean, bless the Greens for trying their little tankie hearts out, but there are few non-Reform voter in Wales, really not wanting to see Reform win the Senedd, who will be thinking the Greens are the only alternative.

The tighter the polls running into May, the greater the chance everyone else unites behind Plaid to stop Reform, at least in theory.

PC just do not provoke the same extent of opinion in Wales as the SNP in Scotland, and provide an unambiguous alternative for those against Reform and dislike Labour.

Maybe I'm a big old bore but I just don't think tasering or deporting people is funny, *especially* when you are the fucking Home Secretary responding to such a question.

Unfortunately they'll make an American Tupolev.

I'm so fucking done with it all.

Just an insane thing to ask, and unacceptable for a Home Secretary to respond.

What the fuck is going on.

The Prime Minister doesn't understand his job.

The Chancellor has given up.

The Home Secretary has radicalised herself.

There isn't a foreign secretary.

A government on autopilot into oblivion.

Given they ended up in power in large part thanks to egregious moral and ethical failings, it's astounding (if, unsurprising) they've ended up accused of the same.

It may be born more out of ineptness and just being politically crap, rather than brazen hubris, but they have still ended up there.

This, for me, was almost as egregious as anything else.

No10 essentially using the FCDO as a political arm in the way Honours usually are smacks in the face of the little emphasis on ethics and proprietary they ran on (not to mention undermining a huge part of UK soft power).

Labour would elect a junior minister no-one outside of SW1A has heard of, and a literal failed former leader, before electing a woman.

It's quite something that the Cabinet Office thought the 'Prince of Darkness' did not need any vetting at all.
