Screenshotted excerpt from linked article reading as follows: "In public, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has cultivated a reputation for care and caution. The papers reveal a different side of him. At a critical moment for the country and the court, the papers show, he acted as a bulldozer in pushing to stop Mr. Obama’s plan to address the global climate crisis. When colleagues warned the chief justice that he was proposing an unprecedented move, he was dismissive. “I recognize that the posture of this stay request is not typical,” he wrote. But he argued that the Obama plan, which aimed to regulate coal-fired plants, was “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the power sector,” and too big, costly and consequential for the court not to act immediately."

New York Times got receipts on John Roberts being like, 'I know this isn't how anything works, but a Democratic president is about to implement a policy!!'

Putting it out there... if any D.C. bar wants access to this livestream, we are coming up against the capacity limits of the library for this event in a way we didn't expect! Get in touch :)
Setting aside all other questions about impeachment, the idea that trying it against a president everybody hates would be a political *loser* for the opposition party is preposterous. Just say you don't want to work! It's more relatable
More important now than ever to remember that the most progressive place in the world can’t protect people who can’t afford to live in it, and can’t welcome people it refuses to make room for.
Happy Surrender and Freedom Day! On April 9, 1865, Robert E. Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant and the Army of the Potomac. home.nps.gov/apco/planyou...
BREAKING: Trump announces two week window for Congress to remove him from office
I've now seen several posts from Democratic US Senators and House Reps calling for Congress to return to DC, and my only reaction to seeing these is: Do it. Just get on a plane and go back to DC. The House is in Recess, not adjourned. There was a pro forma session today. Go. Lead by example.
I would like to see every dem & independent rep & senator on the steps of Congress with this message. "We are here to stop this, where are you?" feels like an imperative question at this moment in time / history.
Don't you all want to be able to say that you tried everything?
Johnson won't reconvene the full House is a choice. I am not claiming that public shame on the steps of Congress would work. But I am saying that it's reasonable for people to demand as many options be pursued as possible. We've seen much greater actions from minority caucuses on other issues.
Failing to attempt to build political will and shame moderate republicans is a choice. Voters feel disempowered. The people we gave power for a moment exactly like this have a responsibility to try more/all options. People are allowed to say they want to see something more. Just accepting that (2/3)
I think it's incredibly reasonable for people (esp many who have been out protesting, calling reps, etc.) to want to *see* dem leaders do something other than post. E.g.: all-Dem presser on the steps of Congress calling for action on an impeachment resolution! Not saying it will succeed! But (1/3)
OK Senator but are you currently in DC or on your way back? Have Schumer or Jeffries called their conferences back to town immediately?
Look, I’m very happy to see statements from Congresspeople saying Trump has crossed a line.
But there are Articles of Impeachment against both him and Hegseth in the House. I believe any Member can force a vote on them within 2 legislative days.
So back up that talk with some action!
Taxes are good, in fact, & Democrats should stop granting Ronald Reagan's bad premise about government:

Impeachment is not some special exception from normal politics where you shouldn't say it unless you already have the votes in hand. You go out and plainly advocate what you think should be done, and attack those who refuse to do it, just like on anything else.
“impeachment starts in the house”
motherfucker impeachment starts when you build the political will for it.
Especially a senator who supposedly wants to be in the dem leadership role. Looking less and less like any of our present options are good options.
An opposition party would not be on vacation right now. They would have coordinated message to the public about the fact that a President in cognitive decline is threatening more war crimes. They would be BLASTING the message on all available platforms.
I think the opposition party widely expected to make historic gains in the next election(s) has an obligation to explain how they'll stop this and prevent it from happening again or it's reasonable to conclude they don't plan on doing those things, which raises more uncomfortable questions

there are some good defenses of means-testing as a concept, specifically the ones mounted against the private law/New Property reaction against the real and expressive value of explicit redistribution. but the usual “what if rich people went to public school” shit is not one of them.
Take a quick survey by April 30 to tell the DC Office of Planning that the draft FLUM we have seen should be sent back to the drawing board: survey123.arcgis.com/share/61f668...
The Department of State tweets a video of Secretary Marco Rubio. In the video, Rubio says: "Imagine if instead of spending billions of dollars supporting terrorists or weapons, Iran had spent that money helping the people of Iran. They would have a much different country."
FactPost News tweets a video of Donald Trump speaking at a podium. In the video he says: "We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things."
hmm
Just so you understand, this is as if you prepared for argument in front of a panel that included Cookie Monster, and Cookie Monster asked you a question about cookies, and you had not thought about cookies in advance.

DC has a once-in-a-generation chance to fix its housing crisis through the 2050 Comp Plan rewrite. OP's current proposal squanders it. I built a tool so you can see exactly where they're falling short: dc2050.org 1/4
