I enjoy running trails, uphill is my happy place. I made a short film about a runner who had things to say. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oU5K...

Sometimes, not too often, but sometimes, distillations from a diary surprise months after the fact.
Starting 2026 with good news - Phoenix Television has acquired broadcast and online rights to Hatching Eagles, bringing it to new audiences across Asia. Hello to viewers in Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore!
That Khruangbin song 😍
Title: Fabulously fun doccies 2024, image featuring three doc posters: ‘Midnight Oil - The Hardest Line', 'Skywalkers: A Love Story', 'Hatching Eagles'. Image from Magical International Movies by Mike Hampton on Substack.
“..you should do your best to watch ‘Hatching Eagles’. It left me with a bunch of questions and mixed feelings, but you should first take it at face value. Can a child be taught anything in 10,0000 hours?"
Substack find. Thanks Mike. See my film on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Youtube Movies.
Found my indie doc on a pirate site labeled as a "Hollywood film." Not sure whether to be annoyed or take it as a compliment.

Finished one, started another. This story’s been brewing for some years. I wrote it earlier as a screenplay, now it’s becoming a book. Pantser 👋 writing this way feels different, but for now, it’s rather nice to have a framework.

If a one-page portfolio or a similarly simple website is enough, I can recommend Carrd - almost free at $19/year. You can test drive for 7 days with the free trial. carrd.co
While the world feels crazy, maybe my doc can offer a break. Watch it on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, or Yt Movies. It’s a story about the quickest-ever rise to the Olympics, starting from zero. A reminder that each of us has so much potential to learn new things. www.jukkatallinen.com/films/hatchi...
Mountain view reflecting on water, midnight sun
View to a valley, river, mountains, blue sky, hiker with a rucksack.
A place to sit, pen and paper, photography and filmmaking, flyfishing for food. My home for several days - no service, no problems, no people either. 200 km; it was a good walk. #naturewriting #arctic

Keeps you going! It’s kind of like a classic Nordic dish - no strict recipe, just throw these ingredients in a pan. We Finns call it Pyttipannu.
Edna catching you in Maniac Mansion kitchen, right before you microwave that hamster.
My new film on Apple TV/Prime/GooglePlay.
The unlikely story of the quickest ever rise from beginner to Olympic heroes. Trailer: youtu.be/yaEPfRbZgpo
This is the way. I keep at least three copies - one on a fast work drive, an 8-bay NAS with redundancy, and at least one external drive (preferably offsite). I used to use the BM Multidock, but as my workflow became more mobile, I switched to portable drives.
Aimo Koivunen, a Finnish WW2 soldier, was the first known case of a combat drug overdose. Fleeing Soviets, he accidentally took 30 Meth pills instead of one. He skied 250 miles with a heart rate of 200 BPM, escaped capture, ate a raw bird, lay wounded for a week - and lived to tell the tale.
Thanks Corey!
Writers desk. iPhone with words on the screen, set up on a stand connected to a bluetooth keyboard, flowers, coffee mug with text "mornings are for coffee and contemplation".
Feels a bit counterintuitive but oh it works. #writing
Editing setup with Macbook Pro M2 Max, iPad Pro, Blackmagic Speed Editor and Beats Fit Pro earbuds.
A MacBook Pro 14" with a Blackmagic Speed Editor on a foldable camping table next to a camping chair by a lake in the summer.
Tested both and went with the M2 Max 14". Pretty sure I'll stick with the 14" from now on — love the portability. The 16" just felt too big. It replaced my desktop, but I’ve been enjoying the freedom of editing in random places for a change. Cutting in #Resolve
Hearing good things about bunny.net, pricing and player looks good. After being a Vimeo subscriber since 2009, I’m making the switch too.
Rooting for you with three cheers: Fountain to the rescue! Artists against obsolescence and incompatibility! Plain text changes lives! (questions of preference, of course) fountain.io
Slightly off-topic, but if a one-page website (profile, landing, or portfolio) suits your needs, I recommend Carrd. I used to run hosted WordPress sites, then two Squarespace sites (work and personal), but switched to Carrd. For $19/year, you get access to custom domain support and other extras.
Greetings from the mailbox vigil. My indie doc was acquired for intl distribution last year - Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Google Play, 66+ territories. I’ve been congratulated on becoming a millionaire so many times that I’m convinced the 7-figure check must still be in the mail.
Dr. Professor’s Thesis of Evil up next? I remember taking some doughnuts to the hardworking crew as they were working on their first film.
We’re being taught UK English in schools, but almost everyone speaks US English here in Finland. They get mixed often. I use sidewalk/tap/zucchini.
It might be worthwhile to build a good relationship with a Motion Designer. The need is often somewhat repetitive (titles, l3rds) and shouldn't incur a massive cost. It used to be my job, and I still make all the graphics I need. I was always happy to do quick gigs while working on longer projects.
It’s excellent! If you haven’t tried it, I can highly recommend Poulet au vinaigre - another French classic. It’s a nice learning process, adjusting the acidity to suit your taste.
Playing the drums in my youth and making music later on have shaped the way I edit. I tend to think of cuts as snares, kicks, toms, and cymbals, building up into a beat. It usually happens unconsciously.
