I think this applies globally. (Well, we have elections next month & I have pros & cons on 4 options here + 2 options with all cons.)
We don't get perfect political candidates wherever we are in the world. But we have to pick the better option instead of opting out - that doesn't benefit us.
Yeah, I definitely agree with 'vote for the person who's going to get you closer to where you want to be' than choosing not to vote at all. Most are not our ideal person.
With your system, you really have 2 choices. Not choosing one is choosing not to participate & it actively helps the opposition.
Sorry, I know it's a typo & not trying to be pedantic, but is that meant to say mtg is questioning his assassination attempt?
That would be interesting.
Do you have a link/ source?
Thanks.
My comment was from a global (/western) perspective on general left-right perspectives on politics.
Yes, the American 'left' aligns more closely with our centre-right in the UK, so there are 'local' differences.
I'm not American & I'm an atheist. I read the quote as calling trump out, because he pretends to be christian, not insulting other people.
Having spent some time living in the US, I do get your point though. Atheism/ agnosticism should be more normalised over there.
I meant saying far left & far right are 'the same' is an easy takeaway when it's oversimplified.
It's more accurate to say all kinds of extremism are more similar than true democracy (an ideal centre).
I didn't mean it wasn't still a valid visual.
It's 100%
"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on, I can't believe you."
~ Nietzsche
(Although they can be upset about the lying too. The whole world is.)
😂
Holy. Shit. This is Reid Wiseman's video he took with his iPhone while at the moon 🌙
It is an oversimplification, but that's the historical context.
I've never seen it called horseshoe 'theory'.
Left & Right are so-called because of where parties sat after the French Revolution. Their building *was* this shape & the extremes of left & right *were* closer to each other than to the centre.
That's where the terminology comes from.

Bbc preview didn't come up. It's 'today's front pages' of Scottish newspapers. They show the covers in the article.
I don't buy the Daily Star!!
Daily Star (UK tabloid newspaper) front page Headline: You're not the Messiah you're a very naughty boy over image trump posted of him as a jesus-type figure appearing to 'heal' a man with glowing hands. Smaller headline: trump backs down in pope row
From www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... today.
I've read in UK news (either the Guardian or BBC) that he is in a hospital in Kuwait.
I assumed this came from US provided info though.

I'm an atheist humanist.
I do believe people who have genuine faith & adhere to the teachings of their religions (not just Christianity) have more in common with humanists than we have differences.
Peace, love, & respect are universal values.
*That should say beard
Just noticed typo.
Our friends were bridesmaids when their mum got remarried. Our mum took us to the chapel. Priest w/ long hair & a bears walked in wearing dress robes. My sister(age 4 or 5) asked, "Is that Jesus?"
Our other neighbour, who attended that chapel, said, "He just thinks he is."
(We're not catholic)
We had a very bad storm once. Scottish Twitter named it.
The Met office names our storms now. 😆

Check is American for cheque! I initially thought you were going to make a comment on $$$. Both points valid.
Freudian typo?!
