Sometimes doing science properly means reading that research paper from 1994. And from 2013 and 1958. Some folks in science are too quick to throw up their paws and say, ‘gosh, these things aren’t known!’. Read the dang papers. So many things *are* known. You’ll save years of muddling doing so.

If someone is in science and proposes using a model to represent a system, they have a responsibility to search for many natural examples illustrating it, and to explicitly limit the scope of the model to cases where nature doesn’t give counterexamples. Something I ran into today didn’t. -.-
