Remember yesterday when the temp was in the 70’s and I was telling everyone not to pack up their winter gear? Welcome to false spring!

A table outside with dogwood saplings, dogwood woven into wreaths, & Atena O. Danner’s book Incantations for Rest: Poems, Meditations, & Other Magic
A white person sitting outside working on homemade loom using hand spun yarn.
A table outside with cardboard looms ready for weaving, a box of sewing supplies, a bag of various colored threads, & a zine called Affirmations For The Grieving.
The focus of our March 2nd Grief Retreat stemmed from a poem by @atenaoyadi.bsky.social called Mending. Around a fire we wove w dogwood & on looms, mended clothes, had foods/teas made w care, and reflected on rest & community care. It was such a thoughtful lovely day!
Our next one is on June 22nd

I think if you don't want to buy things from major retailers today or any day that is great, and I would also love for everyone to remember that successful movements usually need to involve labor, and to start thinking of yourself as a worker first and a consumer second
We got to look at abeaver lodge up close today. We also got to see several muskrat lodges as well. Beavers are a keystone species because their habitats support so many other species. We love our beavers at Wonderland and yes, we make a lot of inappropriate beaver jokes. 😜🦫❤️
A hearty stew of memes for you. 😘

A middle aged man helplessly holds an alligator’s tail as it steals his hat
In a sentence never before uttered by humans, I am delighted to share that an alligator stole my conservation instructor’s hat by jauntily walking into the water while wearing it 🐊
Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

Trump “can only spew this fanatical bullshit because of bipartisan support in Congress for funding genocide,” said Rep. Rachida Tlaib. “He’s perfectly fine cutting off working Americans from federal funds while the funding to the Israeli government continues flowing.”

Welcome to the belly of midwinter. As I celebrate the coming of spring, I am focusing on care as action. May we all remember the importance of care and hone our ability to care for others in loving, protective and tangible ways.
