Evil satsuma plant? Wild.
Watch as I get blocked by people now for voicing my opinions on ecclesiastical matters
I think by now folks should be fairly aware that I'm a deeply progressive left-wing sort of game designer
Just a completely intellectually bereft mob of sycophants
"It's a shame that the Pope has made the Catholic Church political." Do such people have the literal faintest idea of the history of the papacy??
"The Church must fight not only for democracy itself but also for human rights... participation in public affairs, to the degree that the country's level of development allowed, is a human right..." that's from Vatican II, later built upon by John Paul II, to say nothing of the Renaissance
Full confession here (ha ha) I am not Catholic, nor am I even Christian, I'm a Unitarian Universalist, but I have to say that "why is Pope XIV making the Church political" is one of the most mind-numbingly stupid and clueless things I've heard about the Church in a long time
THE CHURCH IS POLITICAL
These people have lost their fucking minds over a game show host (but they also know exactly what they’re doing.)
Oh for sure, it is an intensely malleable amalgam of a language.
But even now, the prevailing mood of groups like Nigel Falange's gang of right-wing racists is to keep out the foreigners and immigrants, so in this example his pompous wealthy aristocratic ass is the native hero. So it's a timeless narrative. Importantly the current culture is clueless of the past.
King Arthur is the Celts being invaded by the Saxons and the Saxons are the bad guys. Robin Hood, it's the Saxons who are the heroic natives and the Normans are the bad guys. JRR Tolkien chooses not to go this route and instead use all of these historical cultures as the basis for Middle Earth
Something I find interesting about Britain is that it had many waves of migrant cultures one after the other taking over and (usually forcefully) integrating the previous ones, and that in any given heroic story the current culture is the good guys and the incoming ones are the bad guys
Trust me every time I see a single person’s tour de force indie RPG output I re-examine my own experience and remind myself I’m a team guy. That stuff is exhausting.
We’re talking about Nimble a lot on our current project else-studio because it does an amazing job of condensing rules to digest-sized book spreads. I got the boxed set reward on crowdfunding and it’s pretty slick although I have to say renaming every D&D class might have been a bit much 😂
And he’s the best they could come up with? That’s the part that always astonishes me. You went with this guy?
But it was supposed to be him dressed as a doctor! He’s helping people like a doctor! Obviously the AI prompt was done bad, Jack
The sentinels RPG (by @rustysellsword.com et al) is one of my favorites, and I'm glad to see it might have a future again

“The Pope is Weak on Crime”
Oh boy
Flashy Superb [+3]
Compared to him, Dan Quayle is a genius diplomat
JD Vance really is going to go down in history as one of if not the most incompetent loser US vice presidents
Not if it’s your favorite!
Sorry? Why sorry?
Maaaate
He conceded!
Of course the new guy is far from perfect
Oh dang, I read your post wrong!
Yup. But we got some strong winds on the tail of it. Honestly I’m glad the news media and MPs and civil defense were so noisy about this as it forced us to do the preparation we’d need if things got bad.
