every couple of years Buzzfeed manages to piss off a wave of its best creative staff and they all leave. This has been going on for a startlingly long time now. It's amazing they never learn.
I disagree. Australia has serious racism problems, no doubt, but it also has none of the jingoism, patriotic excess and belief in national exceptionalism. Australia's culture has begun to be eroded in recent years by nationalist politicians and media but at its core it is not.

Some good news, though, if anyone has mislaid medieval Britain.
IMHO this is one of the joys of language. Synonyms all carry connotation, each is subtle in the ways it carries different meaning, and you can say jogged or powerwalked or hustled or hoofed or any number of other words but they all have slightly different meaning. antiadverb advice misses this.
