Yesterday’s rally for Phase Two of Seattle’s Comp Plan was a HUGE success! Thank you to Mayor Wilson, our fabulous speakers, and to all of you showing up in support of more housing in Seattle.

Next up: Seattle Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck pointed out that for Seattle to be a sanctuary for oppressed people, it needs enough housing at affordable rents.
Next up: disability rights advocate Cecilia Black is speaking to how crucial affordable midrise housing is to meeting the needs of disabled residents. At smaller scale, housing typically doesn't have elevators and is too expensive.
Colleen Echohawk, who ran for mayor in 2021 earning The Urbanist endorsement, is also speaking in favor of a bold growth plan. She now leads Community Roots Housing, one of the largest nonprofit developers in Seattle.

In addition, @mayorofseattle.bsky.social announced at our Annual Celebration that the city will be revisiting later phases of the Seattle Comprehensive Plan with the aim to increase the scope and accelerate the timeline of these later portions of the Comprehensive Plan. Thank you, Mayor!
If you missed it, this morning @girmayzahilay.bsky.social announced the formation of an exploratory committee towards a countywide housing levy. We are deeply excited to work with the Executive on this package.

At the Housing Development Consortium's annual event, Mayor Katie Wilson just announced that the city will "revisit the original phases three and four" of the comprehensive plan "to be far more aggressive with our timeline and scope."
Today, King County Executive Girmay Zahilay announced an exploratory committee to run a countywide housing levy to boost affordable housing and shelter production.
At the Housing Development Consortium luncheon, he pledged to work with them to craft the package.
