Sport England uses a principle called Proportionate Universalism taken from the Marmot Review, led by Professor Sir Michael Marmot. This approach provides services to all - scaled according to individual or community need.

Last week we shared some of the fantastic multi-sport work being delivered across the #ActivePartnerships network.
We're taking a more detailed look at the specific work of the Active Partnerships involved in the initial delivery of the Multi-Sport Activity and Facilities Fund.
This video includes Sport Welfare Officers and representatives from NGBs sharing how this support works in practice — from safeguarding young people and adults, to building connections, strengthening knowledge, and creating welcoming spaces for all.
Supported by Sport England, NGBs, the Child Protection in Sport Unit and the Ann Craft Trust, Sport Welfare Officers provide guidance to clubs, deliver local training, and help embed positive welfare cultures at every level of sport.
We’re shining a light on the role of #SportWelfare Officers and the national network they’re part of.
The network is championing safer, more inclusive sport across England, ensuring everyone feels supported, included and has a sense of belonging. #ActivePartnerships

Over the last 12 months, we have been working with four #ActivePartnerships to deliver the Multi-Sport Activity and Facilities Fund. Funded by @sport-england-se.bsky.social, it aims to help priority groups to be active at new and improved local facilities.
We started the week with the #ActivePartnerships Annual Leadership Event, bringing together CEOs, Chairs, and other senior leaders from across our network.
