Some parts felt a bit long, but her reflections on the leftâs failure to build strategies beyond identity groups were sharp. Her take on how left-wing politics lost ground during the pandemic, leaving space for right-wing populists, really stuck with me. Worth reading.

The book DoppelgÀnger by Naomi Klein (German edition)
Finished #Doppelganger by Naomi Klein last night. Loved how she uses the doppelgĂ€nger trope to analyze the post-pandemic moment (mostly in the US and Canada)âblending memoir and political critique, especially through her own âdouble,â Naomi Wolf. (1/2) #booksky

Excellent by @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social "If youâre always consumed by the next outrage, you canât look closely at the last one. The impression of Trumpâs power remains; the fact that he keeps stepping on rakes is missed. The projection of strength obscures the reality of weakness. Donât believe him."

Still reading DoppelgĂ€nger by Naomi Klein and had some trouble getting into it because i didnât really know where she wanted to go with her analysis. now in part two and happy i stuck with it bc this is one of the best takes on the rise of Trumpism iâve read so far. mostly bc itâs self critical.

on page 90: so far, an interesting exploration, if a bit long winded at times. love me a good memoir but not sure where this is headed yet. #doppelganger #booksky
you know itâs not your kind of week, when you want to take a bath to unwind and realize thereâs no warm water đ cold shower instead.
First book by Naomi Klein. Reading in German for a change. Curious about the topic. #booksky
A picture of a cup of coffee and an open book. The book is called Devotions by Mary Oliver and the poem âI Go Down to the Shoreâ.
in a bad mood somehow, so homeoffice lunch break includes a homemade #coffee (a medium roast iâve been loving) and the #poem âI Go Down to the Shoreâ by Mary Oliver. And i wish i could just go down to the shore. But maybe down to the river is enough? #booksky
finished Parable of the Sower last night & i have so many thoughts. already ordered the sequel. i have had a hard time reading #fiction the last couple of months but this was perfectâmaybe because it didnât feel like fiction at all. itâs not for the fainthearted but gripping & thought-provoking! đđ
âFrom what I've read, I said to him, the world goes crazy every three or four decades. The trick is to survive until it goes sane again.â â Octavia Butler, Parable of the Sower

some of my faves on here.đ„ș
Octavia Butlerâs Parable of the Sower and a paper cup of tea on a train in Germany.
At around page 200 now (very slow reader atm) and so invested in Laurenâs story. Worried what might happen to her. Also somehow worried about what her environment might turn her into. Butlerâs writing is masterful. #booksky

Read Severance a few years back and loved it! Need to check this one out.

Iâm still deep into Parable of the Sower and hoping to finish it during train rides this weekend. I feel so anxious for Lauren (the main character) but canât put the book down. Definitely not a story for anyone who gets overwhelmed easily, but itâs so powerful and thought-provoking. #booksky
